We stayed at the Maq April 2024. Location is in the heart of Tofino, easily walkable to shops, restaurants & tour services. Parking was provided behind the hotel at no charge. Our rooms were clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The “mini fridge” was a cooler and ice was provided free of charge at the Maq liquor store. Perfectly suited our needs. Since we stayed off season, the hotel dining room was open only one night during our stay, food was really good with affordable pricing. There is a beautiful patio off the restaurant and lobby. We happened to hit “wine Wednesday” for 1/2 price bottles of wine, so that was an added bonus! The coffee shop in the lobby offers snacks and good coffee. We loved the eclectic feel of the hotel, the decor and that the Maq is dog friendly as is the town. Next time we visit, we will be bringing ours. Any staff we interacted with at the hotel were friendly and knowledgeable. Our future visits to Tofino will ensure a stay at the Maq, and there will be a next visit. Tofino is a fun little town, there is something for everyone and such a natural wonder that we and Canada are so fortunate to have.

The outside of the hotel is nothing like the inside. What they did with this over 70 year old hotel is amazing!!! Only thing is there is no elevator but staff are happy to help with carrying luggage to the 2nd floor. Would definitely say at the Maq again.

This stay was and upgrade from the Met to their sister property. The stay was great only issue parking was limited so it was difficult. The sister resort was a very nice facility

Great location and nice refurb, but rooms lacked some basic amenities- ie no bar fridge or tea/coffee making facilities. The bathroom was nice but there wasn’t really anywhere to keep our wetpacks.

We had an excellent stay at the Maq. Very friendly staff, easy parking, with clean and comfortable rooms. The location is excellent, right in the heart of Tofino and very walkable. Despite some of the other reviews, we did not find it loud and the noise was never a factor for us. Highly recommend for a stay in Tofino!

Friendly accommodating staff, fun decor, location, comfortable beds, pet friendly. Not for everyone. Lack of air conditioning, fridge and in room coffee may be a deal breaker for some. Our room did get warm and a bit stuffy. Adjacency to patio meant you did hear fellow guests. I would stay again, others in our party not so much.

This is a great facility but definitely geared to the stripped downs, young surfer crowd. Room was recently renovated (great shower!) with a modern flair, but small and not deluxe: no bath tub, no microwave or coffee maker, no phone, no alarm clock. Has a camp cooler instead of a fridge! But it was comfortable and clean and close to everything with a bit of a harbour view. Great base for exploring all that downtown Tofino has to offer. During the busy season however, it would be noisy, with thin walls and a pub and outdoor restaurant underneath. Not a place for families or those who love quiet, unless you go midweek and in the off season.

It was very small for the price. It had no microwave, fridge or coffee maker. Although there was plenty of room to put a fridge with a plug in there, microwave could go on top of the fridge etc. The chair could be move under the window. They really skimped on services.

The rooms were great - however the first floor room was very warm and never cooled off. There was outside noise from the beer garden patio below but did not keep us up. Location was great if you wanted to walk around Tofino. Would stay there again but with less luggage (as lots of stairs). Also parking is a pain. One small gravel lot for the hotel down the street. Street parking is difficult to get. Pack light and/or bring someone who can haul your luggage.

If you want to be able to sleep on a weekend, don’t stay here. Loud party in the courtyard which we were not made aware of at booking time made it impossible to sleep. The hotel needs to decide if they want to be a club or a hotel.

This is a typical European style two star hotel. Tofino is overpriced and it is reasonable priced compared to surrounding properties. It is clean and remodelled but corners were cut. There is no dead bolts on the door and not valuables safe. The room is "secured" by a cheap interior door lock only. There is no fridge in the room or coffee maker that would be standard in Canadian hotels in this price range. You had to walk down two flights to the liquor store to get ice. Be aware that there is no elevator. We also did not see any room cleaner for the three days we stayed. Rooms are small and sparsely furnished. It fits the bill for a place to sleep within in walking distance to all the downtown attractions.
