For one night as a pass through to home, it was ok. But we will not be back.
Pros- child friendly, suite was a good size, friendly owner. The bed was comfy and there is a Roku to be able to get a lot of channels. Breakfast was decent. Although it’s between 8-9 which was a bit early for us after a long day and then having to go looking for dinner and getting the kids settled. Trying to get them up for breakfast was hard.
Cons- dog wee’s on the floor and even when told, it’s not even covered. The cat walks all over the bar and behind the bar. One of our drinks had cat hair in.
There is ALOT of TLC required. It’s old and tired looking. At the point it’s at, I don’t think it matters how much you clean it’s going to look like you haven’t.
The ‘breakfast room’ is basically a storage area that gets made up for breakfast.
There is only food when there is a pop up event. There is nowhere within walking distance to get food.
Drinks are very expensive.
Toilet is a saniflow or similar and very loud.
Parking is not for the faint hearted. We have a Citroen Picasso 7 seater and it was a very tight squeeze getting to the car park between the 2 buildings.
I booked through Expedia, and I accidentally booked it thinking I could cancel if I found somewhere else. Unfortunately there is a cancellation fee. So it was too late to cancel unfortunately.
It was ok as a pit stop.
The family rooms more like an apartment were excellent. Everything you needed in the room including dvds for the kids. The host was brilliant and locals in the bar were welcoming. The location and setting lovely. Would recommend to stopping here
Used as a stayover whilst cycling Sustrans route 3. Perfectly good for that purpose. However, do check dining options in the town - they are very limited, particularly on a Sunday!
We were on a cycling trip from Lands End to John O'Groats and this was not far off the route. Good value accommodation. Breakfast was excellent but the hotel does not offer an evening meal on most nights. Plenty options in town though. Staff were friendly and the pub in the hotel was friendly too. Safe and secure storage for the bikes was provided too.

Access to pub and cooking
A comfortable and warm stay. The reception could have been friendlier and better as we arrived 5.30 and lights were out and they do not open until 6pm or so we were told. The car park at back of pub very narrow to drive through and access at back of pub could have been better lit.I asked for brown bread for breakfast but they said they did not have this only white. The cooking was rather basic
This is a real local pub with a friendly clientele. We enjoyed a very nice bar meal (excellent curry) and fine craft beer on our first evening. The owners are very helpful and friendly (guided us, among other things) to where we could refuel in nearby Tiverton. Very good and ample breakfasts.
This was an amazing, friendly place to stay.i can not fault anything. The breakfast was excellent ,very dog friendly and loved the locals, we had an great time.thank you all for making us feel welcome.
Comfortable stay for one night after a local wedding, owners were very friendly. Cooked breakfast was included and very tasty. Very dog friendly. Massive rooms! Thank you!
The owners were kind enough to allow us in before the check-in time as we arrived early, having unsuccessfully viewed a property for our move to Devon.
The evening meals were lovely 'pub meal fare' in a quiet lounge area. Breakfast the next day was amazing and set us up for the long journey back to Norfolk
Charming father and son owners in a quiet and beautiful village, 15 minutes drive from Tiverton.
Fantastic food, breakfast was yummy! We dined in the evening too and that was 5*!
The landlords are funny kind and super helpful!
Shabby chic and homely!
Rooms were super spacious with comfy beds!
Would highly recommend, very pet friendly. Breakfast is included and they have a great evening menu with plenty of vegetarian options. A traditional pub in a nice Devon village tucked away within the surrounding hills.
