"When we booked there were only 2 rooms left so we ended up right at the top of the main building. They did offer to help with our cases but we were ok. The room was clean if a little tired. The wardrobe had only 2 hangers but we asked at reception and they found some more for us. One of the drawer fronts was only held on by one screw and the wardrobe door didn’t shut properly as some of the hinges were damaged. The room wasn’t always cleaned properly when it was serviced but overall was ok. It was comfortable. The breakfast was good. A nice range of continental and hot. I was a little surprised that asking for a latte added additional charge. The Fat Abbot was also very nice, the food was good although not huge portions if you want that. The spa and swimming pool was lovely albeit very warm in the evening because it was so hot outside and it is in a glass building with a glass lantern overhead. Good size. Parking was plentiful on site and we never had an issue there. There is a bus stop just outside and this made getting into York a breeze the 415 gets you there into the middle of and back again to outside the hotel easily. But if you prefer there is a park and ride at the York designer outlet about 10 mins up the road Overall would stay again. They were working on the hotel having the main reception area repainted and papered."

"Used as a quick stop over on the way north so was in and out in under 12 hours. However for the price the room was good had everything i needed. Staff were very helpful and friendly and it was generally really quiet so slept well. Breakfast was okay for a bit of cereal and a coffee did not have anything cooked. Perfectly fine for a quick stop off"
