Located in the southern San Juan Mountains, part of the Rocky Mountain Range, the Telluride Ski Area is home to some of the most dramatic scenery and challenging terrain in the country. Less crowded than many of Colorado’s better known resorts, the Telluride Ski Area attracts families, couples and serious skiers looking to perfect their skills on these varied and beautiful slopes. Areas & Neighbourhoods in Telluride Ski Area

Telluride Ski Area – Boasting over 2,000 skiable acres and a huge variety of beginner, intermediate and advanced runs, the Telluride Ski Area is suitable for skiers of all ages and all abilities. The resort is home to the highest concentration of 13,000 and 14,000 ft peaks in North America, giving the resort a varied landscape and stunning backdrop.

Telluride – The historic town of Telluride sits at one end of the region’s ski resort. Having started out life as a silver mining camp on the San Miguel River, the town grew to cater to the growing number of tourists who flocked to the area for winter sports and summer pursuits.

Mountain Village - The sister town of Telluride, Mountain Village is a stylish alpine community which is linked to its historic neighbour by a free gondola. Home to a large number of luxury hotels and houses, the area has an upmarket feel and is the perfect destination for anyone looking for designer clothes and fine dining.

San Juan Mountains – The San Juan Mountains surround the Telluride Ski Area, providing the resort with its famous slopes and dramatic views. One of the youngest ranges in North America, the mountains offer plenty of opportunities for hiking, climbing and exploring.

Things to See in Telluride Ski Area

The historic centre of Telluride contains a number of buildings that date from the town’s early days as a silver mining community. Visitors can learn more about the region’s past at the Telluride Historical Museum where they’ll get a fascinating glimpse into life in the old west. Natural landmarks in the local area include the beautiful Bridal Veil Falls, a 365-foot waterfall overlooking the town, Mount Sneffels, the highest peak in the Sneffels range, and the Imogene Pass, a high mountain pass that’s popular with runners and hikers in the summer months.

Though skiing is the region’s most popular activity, visitors can indulge in a number of other winter sports during their stay.
