West Rio — This rapidly up-and-coming part of Rio is decked with some spectacular shopping malls, cinemas and bowling alleys. But it’s the clubbing here that is second to none. The Barra da Tijuca district in particular is fast becoming Rio’s go-to district for all the pretty young party people in the know.
Things to See in Rio de Janeiro
There is so much to see in Rio it’s hard to know where to start. The beaches are of course one obvious destination, but perhaps high-ground might help you pick your spot. If so, then the view from the top of the Corcovado hill with its landmark Christ the Redeemer statue is a staggering experience. For a more immersive taste of heaven however the Jardim Botanico is absolutely essential. This glorious botanical garden is an expansive tract of parkland with tree-lined avenues, fountains, statues and ornamental ponds as well as a number of delightful beaches.

Carnival is the one thing above all else that you really should try and experience in Rio. Essentially a 2 week party that takes over the whole city, each district offers its own different flavour of celebration of life.
