Old british rural signpost warning of dangerous hill
Winter in Merstham Feb 2012
A coated horse in the snow next west of the old Brighton Road (A23) in Merstham (traditionally narrowly within the Gatton boundary) stops eating hay on spotting a walker on the footpath, which passes by his/her field. One of a range of a few fields in north Merstham which have horses, due to the M25 associated with Hooley and Chaldon more than Old Merstham or New Merstham. A path nearby crosses the M25 into Quality Street, Old Merstham.
Gatton Bottom, Merstham, Surrey Looking along this, normally busy, road; in the direction of Ashtead Hill.
Looking to the East On the south-facing slope of Ockley Hill, on the North Downs. The North Downs Way, and my route, lies to the left of picture; an uphill struggle with the snow-covered gradient.
