Oregon Coastline - The interior may be green but the coastline is all about the deep blues of the Pacific and rugged grey of the rocks. Much of Oregon’s long coastline is spectacular and surprisingly affordable.

Portland - The state’s largest city and cultural hub. Portland has transformed itself into a liberal and progressive city, popular with bike riding and environmentally-aware youngsters and cool cats.

Willamette Valley - One of the most populated regions in the state, and where you’ll find most of the wine and food production.

Southern Oregon - Ancient forests and stunning waterfalls are all begging to be explored, and the impressive Crater Lake is well worth a visit.

Things to See in Oregon

Walk a little of the California National Historical Trail, that was once used by thousands of gold prospectors looking to get rich during the 1840s, or visit the Lewis and Clark National Monument features 12 park sites on the coastline along its trail. Glimpse the beautiful Painted Hills and vast stretch of the Willamette National Forest. Silver Falls State Park and Bend are also both worth checking out if you love adventure and the outdoor lifestyle. For a real change of pace and contrast, spend a few days hanging out with the hipsters in Portland, exploring the city on two wheels.

Things to Do in Oregon

Go skiing and snowboarding at Mounts Hood and Bachelor or hike some of the trails, including the Oregon National Historical Trail, which was once part of the country’s western expansion. Go rafting on the Rouge River and camp overnight by the riverside in the spectacular wilderness. Tour the rugged coastline, making good use of the affordable accommodation or head inland to the wine regions for a winery tour and some sampling. Check out top class sporting attractions in Portland or get active yourself with a rock climbing. You may need to soothe your aching muscles with a relaxing dip in a choice of hot springs on the edge of the desert, located in the western half of the state.
