Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa

"The setting and grounds are lovely. The actual room was ok, although I had expected it to be a little more luxurious as a junior suite. There were a few things we noticed in the room - toilet flush was not working very well, the shower door was very noisy when closing and the sink plug was rusty. Also the TV in the room was a basic one with no smart features eg. Netflix or iPlayer etc. No USB plugs in any sockets. All these things I would expect for this type of establishment. The Spa was lovely.There is also a restaurant on site, Squires, which serves excellent food (dinner especially good). Food in the spa was not very good however. They could improve this - why not get the kitchen from the other Squires restaurant to make food for the spa? Staff were not as attentive as I would expect - quite a bit of waiting for someone to spot you if you needed something. Staff at the check in desk were not the most welcoming. Nothing rude but just not very interested or enthusiastic etc. For example when we checked out the girl didn't even ask how our stay was, were we happy with everything etc. This is basic and what every guest should be asked surely!? Overall we had a nice 2 night break but For the price you pay I expected more."

"Had a two night weekend break. Arrived earlier than checkin time but were able to leave the car in the carpark - note there is £15 per 24 hr fee. When we did checkin my partner's birthday was acknowledged and our room was upgraded! Room was spacious. A little worn in places but overall clean and comfortable. Had drinks in the bar but ate out other than breakfast. Breakfast was all buffet style but worked well. Would stay again if returning to the area."

"This is a lovely old building with traditional carved wood decor and big leather sofas and chairs in the bar and lounge areas, I felt like I was in a Jane Austen story. Having said that the facilities are modern and top rate, the swimming pool was my favourite. Excellent breakfast choices, something for all tastes, huge comfy bed and proper seating in the room. Very conveniently sited for the park and ride into Norwich (less than a mile away), but rural enough to make a peaceful break."
