"This is a great traditional Japanese experience. The town of Koyasan is a bit far to get to but it’s worth it! You get a quieter and unique way to spend a night in a Buddhist temple - the rooms are spacious and clean, decorated in a simple Japanese style; the food is all vegetarian and delicious; meals are included. There is also a small onsen onsite which you can use during the posted bathing hours. The prayer service in the morning is the icing on the cake. The monks make you feel welcome and the staff are gracious. A must do if you’re in the area."

"Staff were absolutely phenomenal. What an amazing experience. We came in from Tokyo and it was such a terrific decompression from the chaos of flying and jet lag. The chance to slow down and enjoy this gorgeous area of Japan was so wonderful. We were absolutely gobsmacked by the hospitality and patience staff afforded us as clumsy and exhausted travelers. Wife booked a 90-minute massage that turned out to be in room. So husband wandered around aimlessly in his yukata until it was over, but happy wife happy life. 😉 Cannot recommend Nanenten enough. 10/10!"

"The property is beautiful and well maintained. Staying in Koyasan was the highlight of our trip to Japan from Canada and it didn’t disappointment! The grounds are cared for, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the rooms are nice and comfortable. The location is great as everything is within walking distance but you aren’t on the main road. 10/10!"

"Beautiful location, amazing hotel - the rooms were clean, well appointed - live the bathrooms setup - bed super comfortable. We ordered breakfast for the second night - yummy Japanese meal set. This was our favorite hotel in our stay, well appointed hope to return. You need a car because it is remote from public transport, plenty of free parking at the same level as hotel. The staff was wonderful! This place is well worth a journey!"
