Incredible! The hosts, Angie and Bernie were stellar on every level! The accommodations were beautiful and very clean. The breakfasts were bountiful and wholesome. There was such a tension to detail, kindness, and thoughtfulness! We enjoyed every moment of our stay!

What an incredible service offered by Garth and Angie. I cannot begin to describe how excellent their attention to detail and attentiveness is. Staying here is truly a lesson in excellent hospitality! They offer excellent food, beautiful grounds, comfy rooms and great guidance to their guests. I cannot recommend this place enough!

A lovely warm welcome by our hosts. Great conversation and a wonderful dinner cooked and served to perfection. Garth and Angie made my birthday celebration visit really special and both Jacqui and I highly recommend Whakaipo Lodge for their excellence in all aspects.

My wife and I stayed three nights at the Whakaipo Lodge as part of a 12 day NZ vacation. We have traveled to many countries and stayed and some wonderful venues. My wife and I agree that Whakapio Lodge ranks as our favorite. Angie and Garth are amazing hosts. The room we had was spacious, private, modern, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Breakfast is not an afterthought but a great home cooked meal. Wine (Garth knows wines) and canapés (by Angie) was a great way to end the day. We opted for a three course dinner one night and it was a great treat. Thank you Garth and Angie for making our stay so memorable!

Just delightful

Amazing all around. Angie and Garth are incredible hosts, the lodge itself is fantastic, clean, comfortable and relaxing. Cute lambs and nice farm area if you want to explore, beautiful walks and biking trails nearby. The food and service was impeccable. We got afternoon tea on arrival, a complimentary glass of wine and delicious breakfast the next morning. I would go back In a heartbeat!

The hospitality was above anything I have experienced before. Angie & Garth provided local and country recommendations that were very helpful. We shared a lovely evening with our host and fellow travelers discussing travel and current events. Angie & Garth provided evening appetitizers and wine. We also arranged to have a delicious dinner on site. Breakfast and dinner included foods from their garden and everything was outstanding. I would recommend staying with Angie & Garth.

Angie and Garth are really fine, intelligent, fun and professional hosts, providing a warm welcome, excellent food and truly top notch conversation. If you like the bed and breakfast experience, you'll love it here. If you are hesitant about the bed and breakfast experience, this will change your mind. You will never be more comfortable than here. Perfect accomodation, great touring recommendations, and a perfect, warm, friendly stay on a beautiful, quiet property.

Ein kleines Stück Paradis. EIn wunderschönes und sehr gepflegtes Anwesen und die Gastgeber Angie und Garth sind sehr gastfreundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Frühstück war einfach nur perfekt, alles mit einheimischen Produkten und vorzüglich zubereitet. Die Gastgeber haben uns viele Informationen mitgegeben und waren sehr unterhaltsam. Diese Unterkunft ist sehr empfehlenswert.

Excellent small boutique lodge

Loved everything about our stay but in particular the really friendly and engaging owners Garth and Angie. If you would like to engage with locals then book here. Excellent breakfasts and we enjoyed a wonderful dinner; food, wine and conversation with hosts and fellow guests. Highly recommend!

Highly recommended!

We enjoyed our stay so much. Everything was excellent. Angie and Garth are perfect hosts. We're like staying at friends' home, warm, cozy and clean. We arrived late at night. We were served a glass of wine after checking in. Breakfast was impressive. They even served wine & canapes before dinner. We fed the sheep and the lamb. I'm sure this is the best choice we've made in this trip.

The most beautiful place we stayed in while in NZ

This was the most beautiful place we stayed in while in New Zealand . The hospitality of our hosts was amazing. From the warm welcome to the chat over canapés and drinks in front of a roaring fire, to the delicous breakfast. Recommendations and bookings made for us for dinner and sailing on the lake were spot on. From when we arrived to the time we left it felt like we were catching up with old friends in a beautiful farmlet setting.

Idyllic getaway with the best possible hosts!

Garth and Angie have created a small Eden in Whaikapo. If you go to New Zealand and miss this, shame on you. If at all possible, have dinner with them. Angie is a fantastic cook and they are both charming and fascinating dinner companions

Extended our stay

Thank you Angie and Garth for sharing your lovely surroundings with us - up to date New Zealand architecture with long views over the garden. The house is well situated into quiet private suites for sleeping and convivial lounge and dining areas for socializing. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we stayed an extra night for the unfinished conversations. It was perfect.

Great place to relax and unwind

We really had a fantastic time and found Garth and Angie very hospitable. The room very comfy and clean, Garth and Angie are super helpful and have lots of information of things to do around Taupo. We highly recommend staying here.

There's a reason this place is rated so high! The real highlight was hanging out with the owners, who were only too happy to chat about everything and seem like they were born for the job. Of course the food (mostly homemade) is excellent too, and the rooms etc etc
