Location right on the Ski run, BUT…Location right on the Ski run, BUTWW…
4 out of 5
As said great ski in / ski out location, but because of this getting to the hotel was crazy. YOU NEED A 4 WHEEL DRIVE, and they should tell you this in advance. We got in and our Jeep could not make it up the icy driveway. The staff was great, we called them and they came down to pick us up, so we left the car in the parking area at the bottom of the driveway.
Also, there is a great short walk to the Taos Ski Valley village, BUT you have to walk on an icy trail, then across the slippery beginner run. It would have been good for the hotel to treat the trail or put down something less slippery. We almost fell several times and saw another guest fall. Luckily no one was hurt, BUT...
The room we were in was very comfortable, clean and roomy with a GREAT View. The wood burning fireplace warmed up the room. the Kitchen was a little dated but worked.
The two bedrooms are downstairs with only a very tight spiral staircase.
Lastly, if you go to Taos Ski Valley, be ready for the altitude, man we were huffing and puffing, BUT the skiing was great, althought there was no fresh snow, some runs were icy and some with amazing. I would say we skied for 2 days and has some of the best runs i have skied in years.…As said great ski in / ski out location, but because of this getting to the hotel was crazy.
