Friendliness and service of the staff were amazing! The hotel is old and should invest in renovation, but due to the kindness of each employee, our stay was memorable!

Only issue was the showers tend to get water on the bathroom floor no matter how hard you try not to! Rest was 5-star. It’s not modern by any means, but that just adds to the charm. A classic spot in a great location.

Very friendly staff, good location, nice rooms. We were upgraded to a sea view room which was nice. Nice restaurant serving excellent food even at 11pm. Small room size, no robe or slippers. Tea bags were just thrown and no milk sachets. Definitely not a five star hotel. May be 4 star if the rating is generous. But we had a very pleasant stay, thanks to all staff

I have stayed at this hotel more than 5 times over the last few years. It is a decent hotel centrally located just right outside the old town. This is pretty much home to me whenever I’m back in Tangier. There is a lot of history to the hotel. The terrace area is beautiful. Staff are friendly and welcoming for the most part (not all as some just clearly wanted you to tip them for doing their very basic job or sometimes even less!). Professional 5-star hospitality service is far off. Maybe 4 stars max. Clearly it’s about time to give the hotel a good new life.

This place is not a five star hotel. It is very outdated and at best a 3 star in the US. The grounds, however is very pretty. There is a great view from the terrace and the front of the hotel is nice, but the lobby is not nice and the rooms are not either. When we first checked in very late, it looked like they didn’t clean our tub well. We told them the next day and they cleaned it much better. They have a free breakfast, but when we went, only a few pieces of cookies were out and it didn’t look like they refilled it often. Convenient location next to the Medina at least so you can walk around easily.

The hotel , its location and staff are very good . The only problem we had was : the bathtub drain was not working and though we asked the staff to fix it nothing was done.

Would recommend this hotel made famous by Matisse
Enjoyed my stay at the Grand Hotel. Fantastic view from the hill overlooking the sea and the medina, but also very easily walkable distance from the main sights. They kindly showed me the room where Matisse painted two pictures - they've left it unchanged since his stay. Breakfast buffet was ok but dubious coffee. Would recommend for the setting and the great value.

Charming hotel with friendly staff
Checkin and out were smooth. Stayed 4 nights in this beautiful hotel with very charming French decor. Great views from the hotel overlooking the port and the Medina. Very convenient location close to everything plus. Walking distance to the Medina which we loved. The staff is very kind and friendly that go out of their way to make you feel comfortable.

This property has one of the best locations in Tangier. It overlooks the old market and the sea. If you like sunrise, then please catch it in the front yard. You won’t regret it.

The hotel location is great with a walking distance to the old town. However, the property does not look well maintained and the staff is not very attentive. But the hotel is charming and the terrace view is awesome.

A bit of Europe in Tangier
This was our only hotel that was not a Riad. It is a grand old hotel that has been modernized. It feels very European in its elegance with a splash of North African. It is very convenient to a lot of attractions and easy to park. People very nice and helpful.

What a spectacular hotel from a bygone era! It was classy but not at all stuffy. My room was beautifully appointed and utterly comfortable. The breakfast buffet was generous and varied. A truly enjoyable experience in a beautiful city!

The property has a very rich history when you read up on it. Having breakfast on the terrace was lovely. Sitting on the verandas was great. They should have some kind of beverage service at the pool and verandas. The terrace snacks and wine were great. Location was great too

As other have said, not a true 5 star hotel. Facilities are nice, chic 19th century classic hotel. However, staff is either undertrain or underpay cause they dont seem to care. Valet will ignore you even if you have bags, barely any smiles, etc.

A beautiful hotel with wonderful amenities and a wonderful calm estate around the hotel to wander and take a break. The service was excellent as was the food available in the restaurant. The spa was great and I enjoyed a grand scrub and massage from the team.

At first glance, beautiful property, with a very old French feel. Then we went up to our room where the wifi took over 5 hours to finally work. The room itself was very banged up with many scratches and splotchy paint touch-ups. The tub wouldn’t drain, and then when I tried to call the front desk about it, the phone wouldn’t work. Also, the toilet wouldn’t stop running until you clicked the lever a few times, which we finally learned the trick for through trial and error. The mattress felt very old and used. The highlights were definitely the pool and poolside service, as well as the breakfast buffet and fresh msemen (crepes).

Classic Restored Hotel
We visited during the hottest summer days and this hotel was a pleasure to live in. We roamed around the hotel premises and used their balconies to sit and sip on cool drinks with the cool breeze blowing. The market (medina) and Ibn Batuta's resting place is very close so you can walk there. We stayed in Room 110 and it was spacious. It felt like we had stepped back in time with the older-style furniture. Henri Matise, the famous artist, lived here and painted a few pieces. One is a scene from Room 35. You can request to visit the room. I think all the rooms on the back of the property will have better lighting. The staff is lovely and hardworking.

The pool has 10 sun loungers - there is space for more, but note if there is not a bed, you are turned away. Thus unable to use the facility. The menu states "green beans" with the Filet Mignon steak at 230DH (not a cheap dish), it comes with the same vegetables as the lamb and any other dish - so if you eat lamb on one evening, you are eating the same food just a switch of the meat. I asked the waiter and he said this is ALL they serve. Wild cats eat from the tables and even ON the tables between guests. At breakfast a cat was sitting on the table and feasting - then pushed off to seat a new guest HOWEVER, the tablecloth was the same, and so was the water glass!! True fact. It was a moment from "Faulty Towers" with John Cleese to watch this unfold.
