  • Last night we went to a Taoist Temple in Taipei. You can see in the close up picture of people praying how they receive and answer immediately from the prayers. After kneeling and bowing, you throw two "stones" onto the floor. They are both crescent shaped with a sun and a moon side. If they end up both on one side, the answer is NO. If they end up both on the other side, the answer is maybe, or not enough information. If the end up like a ying and a yang, then the answer is YES. I took a moment to pray, asked my question and got a ying and a yang out of the throw. The belief is, that the result comes from within your own heart.

The place is terrible. The room is dirty and smelly. They use the air conditioning to dry the whole floor, but it doesn’t work. The location is good and close to the subway. Other than that, a terrible hotel.

Easy inexpensive transport from airport on one bus with very short walk (bus 1819). We booked a large double room and the space is good. Reliable hot water, frig and electric kettle in room - great! Fab area full of shops and eateries. The hotel and room are a bit worn, which I mention because that matters to some. However it's clean and very good for me. Would stay again.

Based on this hotel in densely populated Shuanglian area, you can quite easily go shopping around all major sites including "Big 3" department stores -- Sinkong Mitsukoshi, Taipei 101 and Eastern SOGO -- as well as towering malls like Breeze, Eslite or Qsquare. Yomi Hotel is a tired, dingy hotel in a great location. There were many signs of water damage, peeling laminate, musty old carpets, and generally a hotel that is past its prime. Nothing was outrageous. The sheets were clean but the mattress was too firm. There were both feather and memory foam pillows available and the duvet was comfortable. Our room had an air conditioning panel as well as a dehumidifier which rattled quite a lot until I cleaned the air filter myself (it was quite nasty and hadn't been changed in a while). As others have said, the gap under the door is quite large and lets in both light and sound from the hallway. Decor is quite cutesy and dated. I appreciated that we could drop our luggage early in the morning before check-in.

Falsely advertised free laundry room, free breakfast, and free off-property wifi-- none offered. Staff excellent and location good. Room walls and ceiling, divider shade, sink, and bathroom all ridden with mildew that could be easily cleaned with bleach water solution. Tub leaked onto floor as caulking faulty and mildewed. Laundry room smelled very, very musty due to dirty washing machine interiors.
