This is not a bad option in a very expensive city. The village is a pleasant location away from the noise of Newtown streets, but close to restaurants, and about a 10 min walk to the local swimming pool. Lack of air-con is a minus in hot Sydney. There is a games and tv room in a nearby part of the village, which is OK. It is a bit of a hassle to find reception from Carrillon Avenue - stairs and poor signage - and there is a longish wait as all customers are booked in and taken to their rooms in different parts of the village by the only person at reception. Arrived to find the bathroom was in desperate need of a clean. Grime & filth in the shower & basin. Toilet with marks & floaties! Disgusting. Fortunately staff moved us to another room. It was cleaner but still not what you expect at a hotel. I know this is student accommodation but you expect cleanliness when you’re paying $130 a night. Odd smell in hallway & room. Pillows were paperthin & matress was uncomfortable. So make sure you retrain the expedia booking confirmation and present it at the reception. I was offered an upgrade, and I received a follow up phone call about the incident. The staff at the reception were friendly, but they are not hospitality professionals. I think you should take it into account that you are choosing a student accommodation. There was a cockroach in my room. The kitchen and bathroom were filthy with old soap in the shower and rubbish in the bins. The accommodation was very noisy with late night partying outside my window. Room had ensuite bathroom and a fan. Air con would have been nice on hottest day of summer but not necessary most of the year. Close to Newtown and all the food and funky shops there.
