Great location

Lovely staff greeted us and allowed us access to our room despite arriving at 9.30am from the airport. Great location 3 mins walk from circular quay, so easy access to all public transport. We had a 2 double bed room for 2 adults and 2 children age 10 & 8. While it had a fantastic view of the bridge, the beds were too small to accommodate 2 people comfortably. The bathroom was fab. The pool was too cold for me but the kids enjoyed it, however hot tub was great. The staff were all very attentive but scuppered by building works which started while we were there and severely restricted access into the hotel and most of the ground floor. Every time we came back after a day out, more of the hotel was out of bounds! The building works is due to finish Jan 2017, i'd happily stay there again after that!

Amazing hotel

We loved our stay at the Marriott as its name say so it's very close to the circular quay. Clean, comfortable and very close to ferries and trains. Best hotel I have stayed in Sydney so far.

Conveniently located for visiting the iconic spots

Location: Close to the harbor bridge and Opera House. It's a very short walk to the train station from the airport.
Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. They even let us check in early, which was much appreciated after the long flight. Definitely would stay there again.

Pros: bellhops and location
Cons: A LOT COULD BE IMPROVED, specifically the attitude of the front desk staff and concierge.
First, the bellhops were fabulous - caring, efficient, personable, eager to assist without being pushy, etc - FABULOUS, like I said. Second, the location of the hotel itself is close to Circular Quay and within walking distance also to Darling Harbour. Now, everything else about the hotel sucked to me: the hotel itself is not friendly at all - it's more business friendly and less, if not at all, normal tourist friendly. The front desk staff were arrogant, and the concierge was condescending - I did NOT like them at all. Also, when I booked my room, I specifically requested 2 queen beds; when I checked in, I was told I was getting 1 king bed and a rollaway bed. Seriously???... a 5-star hotel which I booked 3 months in advance couldn't give me the bedding I requested??? I'm telling you - they were arrogant, AND I had to call for the rollaway bed twice nonetheless to actually get it delivered to my room. I wasn't happy!!! I would NOT stay at this hotel again because I like a 5-star hotel to care about service and customer satisfaction... this hotel did NOT care about me at all. VERY DISAPPOINTING...

Pros: location was good
Cons: servicing of the room was late in the afternoon, often not receiving the little extras associated with a 5 star hotel.
Location: close to ferries and the Opera House and Bridge. great location for The Rocks and Circular Quay. also close to shopping along Pitt Street.
not a good start with AIRBUS airport pick up. we prepaid well in advance, rang 24 hours before travel, to be told no need to do that!! we waited at Sydney airport for over an hour. I had rang to let them know we had arrived, but was told there is transport every half hour and we had to wait. we finally got a lift with someone else, giving him cash to take us to the hotel. not a good start, and not a friendly service. Enjoyed circular quay and especially The Rocks area of Sydney. experienced the end of the VIVID festival - some really clever lighting. went to the Barracks Museum, this was very interesting and worth a look. we found it a bit disturbing that asking for directions at the Australian museum to get to the Barracks Museum ( which was only a 2 minute walk from one end of Hyde park to the other) - the staff did not know where this was!! we encountered this many times. people in the city obviously do not know what they have close by. we enjoyed our stay but we love Western Australia. Sydney did not come close to what WA has to offer. we will probably not visit again.

In a fantastic family room in the 6th floor, quality and space was amazing, only issue I have was being on the lower floors come breakfast and checkout had to wait forever (10-15mins) for a lift we could fit in as a family of 4, No stairs available that we could find.

Location: Everything you want to do in Sydney is close
The hotel is nicely situated. I would rate is as a 4 star hotel by US standards. It is 2 block from the train station which can get you anywhere you want to go in Sydney. In addition it is 2 blocks from the harbor giving you breathtaking views of the Harbor Bridge and Sydney Opara House. You can catch a ferry from that location and go anywhere in the harbor. The only downside is the Internet speed. While it was better than most hotels I stayed at in Australia, it is very slow by US standards.

Location, location, location!

Pros: Centrally located to the Quay, easy ferry ride or train ride to other Sydney locales; clean rooms, pleasant staff
Location: We did all the tourist stuff....Bridge climb, Brunch in Sydney tower, Zoo, Wax museum, Aquarium, dinner at Doyle's, Manly and Bondi beaches
Our flight was delayed and we got to the hotel 24 hours later than expected. (couldn't get the refund because prepaid booked through expedia) but since we got in at 6:30 am our room was ready. This hotel is centrally tocated and we were able to walk or use public transportation to get everywhere. VIVID was going on and we could see it nightly from our room as we had a Bridge view. The staff was extremely kind and friendly. We had 2 days where housekeeping came in the evening and we declined as we were in the room at the time. Concierge was helpful for excursions and reservations. Gym and pool were ok. We did not eat at the hotel restaurant as there were many local places to explore. As a Marriott rewards member I had free WIFI in the room, otherwise there is a daily charge unless you use the free WIFI in the lobby. I would stay here again for sure.

Nice hotel, central to transport and lovely cafes

Pros: Location, great shower and comfy beds.
Cons: Offer guests a shuttle bus to popular Sydney locations. eg Darling Habour
Location: Good location, central to transport including ferries.
We stayed the night to enjoy all that "Vivid" had to offer. We didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel itself but we were happy and comfortable during our stay. All the staff we dealt with were courteous and able to answer our questions. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends without hesitation.
