Under refurbishment

Posted 21-Oct-2016
Pros: Good location
Cons: Refurbishment
Location: excellent location, shame not all rooms have a decent view.
There was nothing mentioned on Expedia that this hotel is currently undergoing refurbishment! It is ordinarily a very good hotel but we would not have booked it had we known. When we advised checkin staff they didn't believe us that it wasn't noted on the booking app and didn't follow it up.

Horrible hotel

Posted 03-Oct-2016
Pros: Nothing was hell
Cons: The staff needs to all be fired, who runs the HR THERE?
Location: Location was in a dark alley, not nice
This hotel is dirty, dusty, extremely noisy, no lobby just a narrow dark passage to reception desk due to extreme renos, the banging is even heard at breakfast. No pool I was told to walk two blocks to another hotel to use the pool there. When I complained to the manager he was argumentative and condescending to me as a woman. Refused to give us free wifi in our room even tho myself and my partner are both members of SPG. This was a one star experience! Moved to the Sheraton, was a million times better. I'm angry I was charged $400 a night to stay in such hell!!!

Nice hotel close to everything

Posted 03-Oct-2016
Hotel staff were fantastic. Hotel is close to everything you could need. Room was good, although bathroom was not 5 star (it was more like a hospital bathroom). I would stay there again. :-)

Great position excellent staff

Posted 02-Oct-2016
Pros: The position, the staff and the restaurant
Cons: The pillows were way to soft even the feather ones
We stayed at the Marriott as we had a family wedding and the position was perfect to walk to Circular Key, Opera house and a 10 min walk to Pitt st shopping and QVB. Unfortunately there was renovations happening at the time (which we were informed about prior) so the overall look wasn't great but loved the free coffee and cakes in reception as a nice distraction from it. The staff were extremely professional and helpful. The restaurant was superb, the food was beautiful, especially the buffet breakfast, we loved the egg, waffle and pancake station and the chef was great, made to order, and the selection was extremely extensive. We would highly recommend this hotel and would loved to revisit when the renovations are finished.

Nice hotel close to all of the popular Sydney site

Posted 02-Oct-2016
Pros: Warm, friendly staff. Amazing views of the Harbour (and Opera house from my view!). Very comfortable bed.
Cons: Notification of construction going on & to explain it. Also marathon going on, so a map of the closures should be offered, not asked for.
Location: Touristy parts: The Rocks, Sydney Explorer bus (hop on, hop off), nice restaurants by the Opera House. Botanic Gardens
I was greeted very warmly both by the bell hop and reception. Unfortunately my room was not ready, but they held my bags while I toured the city. They soon called and told me my room was available. What a view! I went with the Opera House view and the view did not disappoint. Seeing that masterpiece at the start and end of each day was just the cherry on top of a great trip. The room was a little smaller than expected, but I wasn't planning to stay in the room much. The bed was very comfortable! Construction was going on in the lower level and I wasn't sure what was going on. 2 days into my trip someone dressed up as a construction worker (part of the hotel staff maybe) was there I am assuming to answer questions. It didn't ruin my trip but I wasn't expecting that - never mind. Each day I go through the doors, you are acknowledged by the staff - this is big in my books! Feels very welcoming. I never ate breakfast there even though it was included - there so many create cafes within walking distance I would much rather eat out then at the hotel. Very easy transportation, taxis wait along the street before getting called. Highly recommend and will be coming back
