This hotel is for chillers only. Just relax and forget all your worries. Fantastic food, great staff, top class facility. BUT; dont have a 2nd floor room when it's the hottest weekend of the year. Not that you'll know when you book but it was just too hot. No air conditioning just a small noisy fan so took the edge off the chill factor! However, its was a fantastic base to explore west Suffolk. Do try it.......

Considering the age of the property, dating from 1456, the rooms were beautifully modernised whilst keeping the original features. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was excellent and I honestly can’t fault anything. The only negative was the heat but nothing anyone could do about that!!!

We battled the snow for a stay here and were so glad we did. The hotel is beautiful with all the wooden beams and real log fires and our bedroom was a really good size. Both dinner and breakfast were yummy and my husband even had a treatment in the spa which he enjoyed. My only criticism would be the lack of music. Other than the airman’s bar the whole building was in silence I think some light background music would have been nice and added some atmosphere. I understand a lot of your guests...

Just the ease of driving up to the main entrance to check in and friendly staff making the process easy in the middle of the night.

We have stayed at the Colchester Boutique Hotel before. Lorraine made us very welcome and she was very helpful on giving us directions before we arrived. Our room was full of character, very clean with luxurious bath products, a good range of teas/coffee and complimentary water on arrival. There is a fabulous Indian restaurant next door called Basca but we didn't have time to visit as we were here for a gig at the Colchester Arts Centre which was only a short walk away.
