    Important Driving Information-

Red Roof Cabin is located "up Tanner's Ridge" in the Skyline Lakes subdivision. The drive to the cabin follows a scenic mountain gravel road with winding curves, elevation changes, and incredible overlooks that many guests enjoy photographing along the way.

During the spring, summer, and fall, most standard vehicles—including sedans and compact cars—can access the cabin without issue in normal weather conditions. However, because this is a mountain road, guests with very low-clearance vehicles or those uncomfortable driving on gravel roads may prefer bringing an SUV or AWD vehicle.

November through March: A 4WD or AWD vehicle is required due to the possibility of snow and ice. Mountain weather can change quickly, so please plan accordingly.

    Guest Information

The base rate includes up to 4 guests. Additional guests are $30 per person, per night. Please review the itemized pricing before booking.

If you're looking for a peaceful mountain escape where you can relax, reconnect with nature, and enjoy modern amenities in a truly secluded setting, Red Roof Cabin is waiting for you.

Gorgeous views, secluded and quiet. Hosts made finding the spot easy (it’s nicely tucked away in the mountains!) and had super clear communication, before during and after. Loved the screened in hot tub overlooking the mountains. The whole family, kids and pets, had a fantastic time. Would definitely recommend, and look forward to staying again!

We had a great stay for our anniversary. The location was secluded, but managable to get to town or to Luray. The hot tub room was a great addition with a great set up- it was perfect to enjoy in the evenings.

Great Getaway

We loved the property for a long weekend with our dogs. Definitely recommend 4WD though if there is expected weather as stated on the listing. It was beautiful for us with snow and we enjoyed the hot tub room!

Great secluded spot

My wife and I spent two nights here. The cabin was exactly as advertised and we expected for a great cabin. Having the hot tub was a great bonus. When we come back to this area I will definitely rent from Shenandoah rentals again.

Amazing house and most comfortable stay

The stay at the property was amazing. Thanks to the host, owners, and managers for the most comfortable stay. They provided all the necessary items, including a map to the cabin in case of no network coverage area. They were so thoughtful and put in the effort to take care of tiny things, such as providing towels, utensils, spices, dish soap, toilet paper, etc. The experience with the hot tub was also really good.

Remote and Lovely

We stayed for 3 days in June 2024. Red Roof served well as an uncrowded, dog-friendly base for exploring the Shenandoah National Park. Everything was very clean and well equipped with dishware and appliances. There's more closet space than the Smithsonian. Loved the fresh mountain air and breezes on the huge screened porch. The NP was about 1 hour's drive, but could be routed through the charming town of Luray. It met our needs perfectly and would certainly return for another vacation.

Wonderful getaway in the woods

My husband, daughter and I stayed at Red Roof in early April and had a fabulous time! The cabin is renovated with some great charm. The kitchen is huge and had all the amenities we needed. The bedrooms were large and the beds were comfortable. My 7 year old loved having her own room with a TV! It was a nice bonus to have the games there for us to use. We played Monopoly & Yahtzee. There was a wide selection of movies to choose from as well. I read all the reviews and "rustic location" was correct for sure! This cabin is at the end of a very long drive from the main road and is well off the map. It is the perfect place to unwind and sit on the screened in porch. The internet was great to keep in touch with the outside world :-) I would highly recommend Red Roof to anyone looking to escape the every day and enjoy nature!

Wonderful stay

Our stay at the Red Roof Cabin was wonderful! The cabin is nice and clean. WiFi works great. The kitchen was large with a lot of cooking essentials. If you plan on cooking a lot, it’s better if you bring your own pans and knives. During our stay, the hot tub was still under renovation so we didn’t get to try it. But the housekeeper was upfront about it and informed us ahead of time. She has also been very quick to respond whenever I have a question. Be prepared of driving 15-20 minutes on a gravel road on the way to the cabin. There is a small lake nearby the cabin which takes quite a bit of walk to get to (lots of uphills and downhills). If you’re driving to the lake, be mindful that there is a steep hairpin turn, which could be challenging depending on your car. The view outside of the cabin was great! There’s also a fire pit and a gas grill. We enjoyed our quiet weekend in the nice fall weather.

Nice Weekend Away

Overall we loved our weekend stay! This cabin is definitely remote and a wee bit tight for four adults. There were two couples in our group and one baby. It was very convenient to be able to bring our dog last minute as well. So downsides (mostly minor). The listing said it is two queens but I believe it's a full and a queen. Also the door to the bathroom... is not a door. It's more of a cover almost. There is a big crack to see out and you can hear things you probably dont want to hear. I'd advise only to travel here with people you dont mind getting up close and personal with lol. Alsp ot wpuld be nice if there were blankets to use in the common area. The kitchen and cabin overall was very well stocked although be sure to bring coffee, shampoo and paper towels. There is plenty of firewood for fires. The view was very pretty and I enjoyed rocking and looking at the mountains. There is definitely a good mountain view, that you need to scale a mountain to see. I'd advise caution on the roads as parts can be very steep. Overall though we loved it.

Hiking trip

We booked the cabin as a quick hiking trip get away with friends. Being newly renovated it smelled a bit like paint or paint thinner but it was not overwhelming. The property itself is beautiful. We especially loved the screened in front porch for sitting and the hot tub shack with a tv was AWESOME. Much needed for relaxing after driving and hiking all day The beds were not comfortable so that would be main reason for 4 stars not 5. The bathroom would be better if it had an actual locking, swinging door verses a barn door that doesn't latch. But overall so much information was provided, there was star link internet which was super easy to connect too and worked well. No cell service so keep that in mind, but there is a land line provided and information in case of emergencies. For us no service wasnt a problem since that was our goal. The kitchen was fully stocked with any utensils you could think of. The entire place and the hot tub room were all very clean. We would stay again in the future. The host was only a message away if we needed anything or if anything was out of sorts. Overall recommend this beautiful property, if you have a vehicle that can handle the inclines and roads back to it. Also, the star gazing was a huge plus. We saw so many shooting stars and we were lucky enough to actually view the milky way on a clear night.

Beautiful and secluded mountain cabin!

We had a really fun time staying here and enjoyed our stay. The cabin was super clean and the kitchen was well equipped. We enjoyed the views, the porch, the fire pit, and hot tub. As other reviews mentioned, getting to the property is an adventure up and down mountain roads, the main bathroom has a sliding door with a small gap, and the bottom floor is completely a separate entrance from the upstairs. We had a great stay here - it was excellent for our family of 4.

Amazing Experience

We had the pleasure of staying with Red Roof last week when we book our trip to Shenandoah National Park. The location was amazing, view was great and there are detail instruction on everything - they send us emails before our visit to ensure we know how to get in (with the key lock). Inside, the place is cozy and lovely, and has everything you need in staying there! I would definitely book again next time.

Perfect honeymoon stay!

We loved the red roof cabin! It was everything we wanted! We came here for our honeymoon early October 2025 and can’t wait to return. My favorite part was the hot tub room, the view was spectacular. There was a large fire pit and grill outside which was very nice in the evening. The kitchen was large and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and rooms were spacious. It was nice there was a washer and dryer as well. The Housekeeper was very attentive when we had a question. Our dog loved being on the large front porch enjoying the view. It was perfection and we plan to come back with some friends next time!

Great Spot Near Shenandoah

I was really impressed with how responsive the hosts were with our questions (they responded immediately). We were there during a storm and the power got knocked out, but the generator immediately turned on to cover all of the power (including the wifi). The stay is very scenic and secluded. It is very close to the Luray Entrance of Skyline Drive on Shenandoah where you can access many hikes. If you are planning on doing Old Rag, you will need to loop around the mountain which was not a problem since the drive is so scenic. I stayed in June 2025, and the grill was propane.

Remote Comfort & Fun

Trip was good. The cabin has been updated recently with new floors, bathroom updates, etc. I'm not sure if it hadn't been used in awhile but the heat was broken when we arrived which was fixed after a few hours. Additionally some of the light fixtures in the basement were missing lightbulbs, and there were water strains in the toilets which is why I think nobody had used that area in awhile. The bedrooms are a big size, the living room has room to relax, and the dining room and kitchen are huge for a big gathering which was nice. Didn't use the hot tub but the building that it was inside looked updated, but the outside seemed to still be under construction in terms of the fencing and landscaping since it's the beginning of spring there in the higher elevations. Keep in mind that the hot tub is on the smaller side, so more than two people in there can feel cramped. All and all, it was a nice and comfortable stay, but as the other reviews said, I would recommend an AWD car any time of the year. Once you enter the private community, you will be driving for 15 minutes up and down steep mud and gravel roads to get to the cabin, and we arrived during a heavy rainstorm so you need to take it slow until you get the lay of the land the terrain. If you like an adventure, this one's for you :-D
