We choose to stay at Lydia Mountain Lodge's Bear Paw Cottage because it was tucked away but still very accessible to other areas we toured. Very secluded but also very safe. It felt smart to rent a cabin managed by a Lodge rather than a random rental on other sites. The price was very fair. We didn't need any help from the staff but when we checked out they were very friendly. Cabin was clean, you could tell they had taken care to renovate but still keep the vibe of the original. Wonderful back deck and clean hot tub. Comfortable memory foam bed (and we have been burnt by rental beds before, so thumbs up there). Called 3x to the lodge and got the answering machine all three times. Left a message, never a call back. Finally drove to the lodge to get a code to get into the accommodations. Over every threshold and where the fireplace is was a tripping hazard. The next morning when we went to cook, there was food stuck on pans or pans all rusted out. Wiring and cords were hanging everywhere, no smoke detector, and when we did the jacuzzi after hitting the big clump of ice at the bottom , obviously indicating a leak. There is no way that this a cabin is for four people. There is no where to sit and eat. With a truck it was difficult to maneuver through, without a truck it would be difficult to maneuver through. There was privacy for bedroom area or bathroom. Since windows had no window covering and as soon as the sun came up the light broke through the windows. We have stayed at different cabins several times here and have never had such an experience, lack of cleanliness and unnecessary clutter. Honestly for the money this experience would make us rethink returning to Lydia Mountain Lodge. ##### Erika K.
