"Staff and clean rooms"

"The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The rooms were clean (but housekeeping only came every 3 days ). The pool is extremely small but isn’t crowded because people typically don’t use it. The best amenity is the free water in the lobby and ability to screen cast to the tv. Not much options in terms of their cable tv. Also we ended up extending our stay by one night and therefore had a different room on the last night. Both times we booked the “superior room” but only our first room (410) had a second sink in the kitchenette area with cups and plates (no silverware). It also had a breakfast bar with stools that our second room did not. The second room (702) had a much smaller bathroom area (very cramped toilet space) and the sink water was SCALDING. I do not think it would have been enjoyable to be in that room for more than 1 night maximum. The mini fridge in our first room also had a mini fridge with separate freezer compartment. Our second room had a tiny freezer slit that didn’t fit more than an ice cream bar."

"The room was gorgeous! Bravo for the elevated and tasteful decor. The exterior does need a little facelift here and there as it is an older hotel, but there is a "classic," old Hawaii charm about it. Bell Attendant was a bit pushy when we did not let him take our bags before check in - asking repeatedly - when guaranteed check in was only 30min out. Other than that, the staff at the Veranda was so nice and cheerful and dinner at Arancino was amazing. This is a great option to stay outside of Waikiki."
