Beautiful location to explore the New Forest.
Staff are exceptional.
Food was very good and well presented, I had the salmon, with broad bean and pea fricassee, asparagus and potatoes for dinner, I had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast.
Room was a little dated but perfect for what I needed (room 6), it was very relaxing having a bath with the window open looking out at the trees and sky.
We liked where it was .very handy to some lovely places.we were visiting family so we didn’t eat there. The was okay for the price. Cleaning was not up to standard lots of dust on the ledges and the windows were mouldy.
Lovely stay food was fantastic room was clean staff friendly and helpful would highly recommend and will definitely be going back again

The room was ok but tired and the decorator was very slap happy with the paint all over tiles mirror etc . Room was freezing cold until we asked for the heating to be turned on . Breakfast was ok apart from the sausage which was so dry and overcooked . The best thing were the staff, they were all happy and smiling and willing to assist
A beautiful old hotel in ravishingly lovely countryside. A very warm welcome on arrival. Staff responded immediately to very request. Plenty of parking on a large forecourt.

Lovely location. Noisy from 7am onwards due to delivery vehicle bin Lorrie’s. Nice garden friendly staff. Needs a little investment to update

Room was clean, friendly staff, breakfast was fine but expensive, plenty parking space. Nice quiet location. Close to forest and City.
The hotel is an older building and a bit worn around the edges but it was fine for the two nights we were there, and a reasonable price compared to hotels in the area. A nice garden area.
The room was clean and spacious with a comfortable bed.
The staff were pleasant and helpful at all times.
Parking was good.
The only gripe that let it down was the restaurant, particularly the continental breakfast which consisted of fat free yoghurts, granola and sliced bread - no pastries, no croissants, no meats, no small fruits. The English breakfast was good.

Had to wait to check in, but staa very friendly. Room was okay. Evening dinner was below average. I ordered the special nothing to write home about.
Used this on a recent business trip while working at Southampton General Hospital which was close by. Lovely hotel, great evening meal, comfortable and peaceful room. Excellent surroundings too. Lovely.

Great location, staff were friendly.
Room wasn’t cleaned very well so we came back to dirty cups, wet and stained surfaces and only a partially made bed after our day out.
Generally the rooms were nice but no soundproofing, you can hear talking from rooms above and extractor fan going on etc

2nd visit and would stay again..Both times reception staff were excellent and wrlcoming.
Overall, we had a pleasant stay. Small attention to details noted - a radiator that was hung very unevenly in our room (eye catching, long term dust build-up on the headboard, staining/drips/splashes on walls next to the toilet and 2 broken windows in 'attic' windows (not what you expect to see when you first arrive at this otherwise beautiful building). The positives - generally clean and tidy in the communal areas and in our room, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel had great dining and bar areas with a decent selection of options on their menu. The crowning jewel is the hotels location in relation to the New Forest and Southampton central.

Lovely setting and great value, but room maintenance needs attention
This was our third stay at Woodlands Lodge, and its location remains unbeatable. Set right in the heart of the New Forest, the back gate leads directly into the woodland, making it fantastic for exploring and accessing local cycle trails. The on-site bar and restaurant are great, and the staff are consistently friendly and helpful.
The value for money is exceptional—just over £400 for a four-night summer holiday stay for two people is incredible for this area.
However, a couple of issues impacted our stay. This was the second time out of three visits where we ended up with a very poor mattress. It was uncomfortable enough that I couldn't sleep, and we had to request a room change. Luckily, they had availability, but had the hotel been fully booked, it would have meant a week of terrible sleep.
Room amenities also need some attention. The shower barely worked—while the water eventually got hot, it took a long time to warm up and the pump struggled significantly throughout our stay.
All in all, Woodlands Lodge is still a lovely place to stay, but updating the mattresses and sorting out the plumbing issues would make it fantastic.
