A very traditional hotel in a former stately home. Stayed for business, although dated in parts it was a very relaxing stay with excellent food choices at very reasonable prices. The Trade Union connections were new to me and proved very interesting reading about the history of the hall.

"Lovely hotel, first stay, would return"
It was the first time we had stayed at Tankersley Manor and we would definatey return and stay again. We were going to an event at Sheffield Arena and wanted somewhere away from the City Centre, but not too far. It was very easy to get to and was only about 15/20 mins drive from the arena. The staff were lovely and friendly and breakfast was really nice too, plenty of choice and excellent customer service from all the staff. Having the leisure facilities was an excellent bonus, although I personally felt the facilities were a little small for a spa day (but that is my preference as I have been to larger spa's and prefer them bigger). It would of been nice to have a separate area to change in with privacy and I did find the towels provided a little small and worn. We had a lovely quiet room at the back of the hotel, alhough I'm not really keen on interconnecting doors between rooms, as you can hear everything your neighbour is saying. The first night nobody was next door but we had a neighbour the second night, fortunately she wasn't noisy so we were lucky. All in all it was a lovely hotel with great, hard working and friendly staff and we wouldn't hesitate to return.

"Great B&B and great owners"
Fantastic service throughout, from my late arrival to someone chasing after me as I pulled away having left my toiletries in the bathroom. Very at-tentative and caring staff but also high quality accomodation.

"Perfect location for a Wedding Venue"
Very friendly staff on checking in, quick and our room was superb. We only stayed one night as just attending a family Wedding. The whole day was fantastic from start to finish. Great outside area and met many Golfers. The lunch was superb, lots of bars and loungers so waiting at the bar for drinks etc. Great evening reception too, lovely buffet. Great nights sleep as so quiet, loads of hot water and such a large bathroom with lots of toiletries and lovely soft white towels. Great to have Tea/Coffee facility too. The buffet breakfast had everything you could want and cooked to order. Lovely warm and bright breakfast area and the staff were so helpful. All in all a very good experience and would stay there again.

"Lovely stay"
Me and my husband pre-booked our room for a works christmas do. From start to finish it was a fantastic experience. The staff, and I mean all the staff, were very welcoming and smiley. All were informative and made us feel comfortable. The room was excellent and filled with all those essentials. Gave us a glimpse of a lifestyle we could quite easily get accustomed to. As for the food. I couldn't find anything to fault either. Presented beautifully and with such good service. This includes the 3 course meal and the breakfast. Hope your experience is as good as ours. Thankyou Mount Pleasant

"A good location and pleasing facilities."
A useful location to travel around Sheffield including easy access to the Peak District. The rooms are pleasant, clean and comfortable. The hotel facilities are very good with a nice bar and restaurant, and the gym and pool allow you to get that all important exercise regardless of the weather conditions outside.

"Large room, value for money"
Second two night stay at this hotel, very reasonable price. Rooms are a good size, clean & have all the usual amenities + excellent showers with body wash (Dove) provided! Plenty of towels & extra pillows provided, good hanging space/storage shelves, hair dryer & tea/coffee. The hotel has 'cafe'/bar which serves some meals, e.g. breakfast is £8.95. This is adjoining reception so the smell of cooking can be a little off-putting when checking in/out! We didn't use this just crossed over road to McDonalds at the retail outlet shopping centre (other places to eat there too!) Ideal for visiting race course/town if you're not bothered about being on the edge of industrial estate on busy road. Free parking. Top floor rooms will be quieter but you will always have some traffic noise if you have the window open but there is air-con so you shouldn't need to. Staff pleasant & helpful, reported remote needed new batteries & were bought up to room within two minutes! Impressive!

Pocket Guide: Romantic Hotels in South Yorkshire

If you are planning a romantic weekend getaway or the perfect moment to pop the question, you can find an excellent range of romantic hotels in South Yorkshire.

    Explore Conisbrough Castle

Offering excellent views of the countryside, Conisbrough Castle has stood for more than 800 years and is perfect for a romantic afternoon trip. The castle gradually fell into ruins after its medieval heyday, and was eventually bought by the Duke of Leeds in the Georgian era before it was acquired by English Heritage after the Second World War. Carefully restored in recent years, the building is noted for its large keep and circular central tower, and the grounds provide plenty of space for a summer picnic.

    Visit Cusworth Hall

This splendid Georgian country house near Doncaster is surrounded by beautiful grounds and has a museum where you can learn more about South Yorkshire history. Visit the tea room and souvenir shop, and have a slow stroll around its scenic lakes and plantations. With WiFi access in your romantic hotel, you can easily check upcoming events such as concerts and exhibitions at attractions like this at the last minute.

    Other Attractions in South Yorkshire

Go for a long walk in Endcliffe Park, a beautiful Victorian park that includes lush woodlands and (somewhat unsurprisingly!) a statue of Queen Victoria. It is within walking distance of the Sheffield Botanical Gardens, where you can find many attractive plant species and elegant glasshouses.

Quality Amenities and Comfort At Romantic Hotels In South Yorkshire

Besides WiFi, most rooms are equipped with tea and coffee-making facilities so you can always wake up to a hot drink each morning. Many hotels also have breakfast bars where you can enjoy a wider selection of hot drinks, cereals, toasts, fresh fruits and other snacks so you can start the day refreshed. South Yorkshire's more high-end romantic hotels may also include spa amenities and swimming pools for more relaxation.

One of the most romantic hotels in the county is the luxury Best Western Premier Mount Pleasant Hotel, a romantic country-style eco-friendly hotel less than three miles from the Yorkshire Wildlife Park. This green hotel offers sophisticated rooms with premium bedding and pillow choices.
