The little market town of Skipton sits on the southern border of the mighty Yorkshire Dales National Park and was once voted the best place to live in Britain. It's made up of a pretty jumble of Yorkshire stone Victorian terraced houses and cottages, criss-crossed by a little network of canals plied by colourful wooden barges. It's impossible to get bored in Skipton. If you're not hiking, biking or horse riding in the in the vast dales, just a stone's throw from your Skipton bed and breakfast, you could be spending your days catching one of the local football matches, diving into one of the town's museums or galleries, or admiring one of the historic landmarks. It doesn't matter whether you're coming on a romantic break, an outdoorsy getaway or a family adventure, the bed and breakfasts in Skipton have got you covered.
Skipton has got its fair share of B&Bs dotting the town and the surrounding Yorkshire countryside. Some are traditional B&Bs housed in the Victorian terraces that line most of the town's streets and have been run in the same way for decades. Others have updated in recent years, offering stylish boutiques for a handful of exclusive guests. If you don't fancy staying in town, you could always score one of the guestrooms in the country cottages that dot the stark moorland scenery. Alternatively, if you're just looking for somewhere to lay your head, there are several budget-friendly B&Bs that offer much more than you'd expect for the price. Whatever you're looking for, you'll find your perfect match by scrolling through the extensive listings on Expedia, which include detailed descriptions and candid photos.
While all the guestrooms are different, you'll usually find all the things you might expect from a hotel, like facilities for making tea and coffee, ensuite bathrooms and a big comfortable double bed. Complimentary WiFi is a given and could be used to check your emails or research the hiking trails from the guestroom's desk. Some have charming, traditional decor which hasn't changed in years, while others have modern on-trend furnishings that wouldn't look out of place in a city crash pad. When you are looking through the Expedia listings, you could pick a room with views over one of the historic landmarks or the winding canals. If you're looking for specifics like pet-friendly B&Bs or free parking spots for your car, you won't have any trouble finding it. You can't start a day out in the Dales or sightseeing without a hearty breakfast, and the bed and breakfasts in Skipton excel. Why not combine your break with a few days in the northern capital of Manchester?
You'll find a ton of family-friendly activities to do near your Skipton bed and breakfast. Remember to bring your wellies or walking boots because with the Dales right on your doorstep, there's always the opportunity for a rural ramble where the kids can run free in the woodland and moorland. Little kids and big kids-at-heart will be smiling from ear to ear when they visit Thornton Hall Farm Country Park, where it's possible to get up close to myriad wildlife species. If the weather takes a turn for the worse, you could dive into the Craven Museum and Gallery, which tells the story of the town's history through its displays of artefacts and art.
