We were happy at The McClure Family Farm. We had a wonderful time staying here. The home is well cared for and you will want for nothing. Everything is there.
I grew up near Shirleysburg and wanted to come back to visit family. It can be hard to find places to stay. The Farnhouse was perfect for my family. The house was very clean and stocked with everything we needed. We will definitely return.
We had a wonderful stay at the McClure family farm. They had everything for all ages game's, bikes, etc. We lived the home feeling of the property and enhoyed being away from the city. The whole family was talking about how much fun it would be to go back. Thank you so much
This is a beautiful property. We had little kids with us and they had a blast. There was so much for them to do from chasing fireflies at night to riding bikes down the driveway. The inside of the house is exceptionally clean and well taken care of. The host has it well stocked with all of the necessities, even lots of toys for the kids to play with. It was a wonderful week, full of laughter and good conversation in the most peaceful Space.
We always enjoy McClure Farms. We love the outdoor space and the property is always clean and well maintained. We did experience a well pump failure that led to no water one night, limited water the next night, and no use of the outdoor space the day we left due to very loud drilling. But the owners were very accommodating and provided extra water. We were given a 50% discount on one of our three nights due to the inconvenience.
House was clean and comfortable situated on a scenic historic farm. We enjoyed seeing the tractors come by and watching the cows in the morning. We stayed over a hot, hot weekend. House was cool and comfortable. Twelve people stayed but with sharing morning and night showers we all got hot showers. Plenty of clean towels and washcloths. Beds, pillows and bedding all very comfy. Not a lot of cons, but things good to know include that the downstairs full bath is accessed through the downstairs single queen bed bedroom. Fridge is on the smaller side but owner offers the use of an extra fridge in a banquet room adjacent to house if needed. Tap water is not drinkable but there is a water cooler with filtered water in kitchen. Although seating is somewhat limited (living room couches seat 4-6) there is lots of seating in the kitchen/dining area and outside also. We particularly enjoyed mornings outside in the little fire pit area overlooking the fields. Property is quiet, private and peaceful. Although this would not be the norm, due to our scheduled obligations, the owner was flexible to offer a late checkout even though there was another large group coming in. We really appreciated her flexibility and enjoyed meeting her and learning a little more about the history of the farm and the family on our way out. Highly recommend this property! We will be back next year!
We had a very good stay. House was clean, lots of towels and wash cloths, kitchen well stocked, full line of appliances and dishes. We lived on the back porch each night.
Great communication with the owner! Beautiful setting with a cute campfire/picnic table area. Incredible views. Not too far from Raystown Lake and Lincoln Caverns.
I wanted a place where my aunts, their daughters, my sister, niece and I could get together. My mom passed away in January and I needed her sisters. The house was great! Very clean and well maintained with plenty of room! The TV wouldn’t pick up the Wi-Fi so we didn’t watch any movies, may have been a blessing in disguise. Definitely plan on visiting again!
We loved our visit to the McClure Family Farm. The home was clean and well stocked, and the owners were responsive to questions. The rural, farm setting made for a great family getaway. We visited several state parks, Raystown Lake, caverns and a small amusement park -- all 30-60 minutes from the farm. The kids loved the outdoor fire, grilling and making mountain pies!
The water situation was a surprise. We discovered upon arrival that the water was not safe to drink or use to cook without boiling. The owner supplied 5 gallon bottles that they filled with water from elsewhere to use. The water situation was not addressed in advance, but the day before we arrived a message from Nadine recommended simply that we bring some bottled water with us. I was initially quite alarmed and upset, but we dealt with it and actually had a wonderful time during our stay. I do think that renters should be aware in advance of the water situation, but everything else about our stay was perfect.
This house is incredibly clean and very comfortable. We were a church youth group staying there during Creation Festival at Agape Farm 2 miles away and it met and exceeded everything I was hoping for in the house. We had plenty of room to sleep and the outdoor swing overlooking the field was a great place to gather in the early morning hours. The kids in the youth group loved seeing the cows grazing in the field. The owners respond quickly to any questions you may have. If you need a place to stay in the area you can't go wrong with this house! Just don't take it when we need it again! :-)
From listing to follow up these property owners were amazing. They went out of their way to make sure that we had the best trip ever. The house was amazing clean and ready for us when we got there. They make sure that we had firewood and everything that we needed to have an enjoyable vacation. I would definitely go back
This home and property met every expectation and more. So peaceful, comfy and a great place for family to enjoy and reconnect. Nadine and Charles are wonderful and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
If you need a getaway this is the place. You are close to many museums and shops and a decent drive to raystown lake. But the pull of this rental is the home and property itself. The house is fully remodeled but retains it's farmhouse charm, whether you are sitting at the fire ring and enjoying the stars or relaxing on the covered patio to take in the sunrise you will feel the stress of life melt away.
Myself and some friends rented this beautiful home for a show we were attending…. It was so peaceful and relaxing ! Nadine was very helpful.. we messaged her to see if we could check in early and she said yes we were very happy because we had drove up from Florida… I would definitely recommend this home !
Nice country getaway property with many necessities furnished. We enjoyed using the outside fire ring one night and fire wood was furnished for that also.
