When to Book Your Hotel in Shannon

Given that Shannon was first built to provide accommodation for airport workers, it should come as no surprise that the town is steeped in aviation. The Annual Aviation Show is held in August, at the Atlantic AirVenture Aviation Museum, and offers visitors the chance to see the museum’s aircraft collection, to sit in the cockpit of a real fighter jet, to enjoy a model aircraft show and an aerobatics display, and much more.

In September or October, Bunratty Folk Park holds a Traditional Harvest Day, in which harvest traditions from over a century ago are brought to life in this living museum. The Bunratty Banjo Pickers Festival takes place at around the same time, and provides an opportunity to enjoy traditional Irish music as well as bluegrass, Dixieland jazz and American folk music.

There are also a number of golf tournaments held in and around Shannon throughout the year. Shannon Golf Club holds its annual Senior Scratch Cup in August, and a Junior Scratch Cup in May.
