About this property

Porter’s Perch – Rustic Yurt Stay Near Seward

  • This cozy, rustic yurt sits tucked back in the woods on my private property, just on the outskirts of Seward. It’s named after our beloved dog, Porter, and offers a simple, affordable way to test your off-grid living skills while still enjoying a few comforts.

    The yurt has electricity, a mini fridge, a space heater, and a fan to keep you comfortable in any season. Please note: there is no running water inside the yurt. Showers are available downtown at the harbor and local campgrounds, about a 5–10 minute drive away. The bathroom is a very rustic outhouse with a curtain, adding to the back-to-basics charm.

    Outside, you’ll find a fire pit (available when no burn ban is in effect) and a picnic table for relaxing outdoors.

    Because the yurt is located on the same property as my home, you may see children’s toys in the yard, our friendly border collie, and my six-year-old playing nearby. This is a friendly, family space — perfect for guests who appreciate a comfortable, budget-friendly stay close to town and don’t mind a bit of shared activity around the property.
