Isolated lakeside house, view of glaciers & volcanoes, good for day trips - new!

Herrukot, our holiday home built in 2015, is located in a gorgeous isolated location right on the lakeside. The house contains two separate bedrooms, each with very comfortable beds that are 90x200 cm in size, a bathroom with a floor-level shower, underfloor heating throughout the house, living/dining room with a pull-out sofa bed for two, and a completely equipped kitchen including a dishwasher, a ceramic-top stove (4 hobs), and an oven. With a floor area of 66 sq.m, it offers a relaxing vacation. Wi-Fi is available at no cost, as well as bed linen, bath towels, and dish towels. The icing on the cake is the 60-sq.m wooden terrace with its own hot tub and a fantastic view of the lake, mountains, and the Hekla Volcano. The house is somewhat isolated, though because of its ideal location in the Southern Region, it is great for winter stays. The Northern Lights are a completely different experience as there are no lights from nearby houses. Our farmhouse is just 400 m away, you can certainly ride out from our farm. Best stay we’ve have in Iceland

This was our third time visiting the island and we could not have had a better stay. The house was exactly what we were looking for, and the hosts were fantastic. The communication was excellent and they were kind enough to message us on an amazing display of the northern lights to make sure we didn’t miss it. I cannot wait to make sure my friends book this location on their trips and we will definitely be back!

Absolutely amazing home with beautiful views!

From booking, Renate was very responsive and helpful even flexible with our check-in/out times. The house was a perfect getaway and a great location between Reykjavik and Vik. Weekend away

House was very clean and had everything we could ask for. Location was remote but gorgeous. We had amazing views of th northern lights 2 of the 3 nights we stayed. Was a good midway point for all of the things we wanted to see. Would love to stay again.

What you see is what you get :-) Lovely cottage at the lake with great hosts. Lots of activities possible within 1-2h by car. We truly enjoyed our stay.

Just “wow!”

Choose this place for a great view over a lovely lake, a large deck with a spacious hot tub feed by natural hot water, very clean and thoughtfully built and supplied house, quiet surroundings and the best horse riding experience around! We LOVED our stay here. Renata and her family are so friendly.

Beautiful cabin on the lake

Location - we loved being so close to the horse farm. Renate was very kind and welcoming and gave us a tour of the farm. We will be sure to return in the summer to go for a ride as well. The location was also great for the golden circle and the secret lagoon.Cabin - it was very well insulated and cozy, even in December. Everything was very well constructed (doors, windows, latches) and we had everything that we needed for delicious dinners in (we bought groceries from Bonus and Kronan). The beds were comfortable too. Hot pot - this was amazing! It was hot and very cozy. We enjoyed ending our days in the hot pot every night of our stay. Most nights were cloudy but one night, it was clear and we had a great view of the big dipper :)Thank you for a wonderful stay :)

Everything was great at this place. Renate was quick to respond and ready to help with anything we needed. The hot tub was amazing and always hot! The only thing to note, is that there are towels but not wash clothes.

Beautiful property

You can’t beat the view here! Gorgeous lakeside views no matter where you look, and occasionally you can see sheep and ponies grazing on the hills from the house. The hot tub is wonderful and the house is great for making breakfast before heading out for the day. 20ish minutes from Selfoss and centrally located for many things to visit!
