Great ambience

Food is great. Concierge staff very helpful. Rooms, lounge and restaurant are very comfortable. Heating is not stellar - request extra duvet. Definitely go to the Sky View Observatory only one block away.

Okay hotel in dodgy neighbourhood.

Posted 05-Oct-2015
Pros: Grand old building.
Cons: Friendlier front desk staff who don't threaten patrons with stolen cars.
Location: Very dodgy location but within walking distance to Safeco and shopping.
Upon our arrival we were greeted by very friendly bellhops but not so friendly desk staff. My wife was unsuccessful in checking in holding my credit card with the first barely cordial front desk person - while I idled on the street with no parking - as the reservation was in my name...our 2nd attempt found a 2nd barely cordial front desk person. When we enquired about parking alternatives - objecting to the $45USD a night the hotel charged - she said and I quote: "$45 or a new car...your choice." She basically told us that if we didn't use the hotel's valet parking service, our car would be stolen (it wasn't). Yikes batman. Our room was okay, clean but otherwise small and unremarkable. Although we were able to walk to Safeco from the hotel, the walk itself was a big concern as we were constantly faced with an overwhelming homeless population (seemingly suffering from mental illness or drug addition). Upon our return to the hotel from the baseball game, we found the pullout couch had broken springs and was basically unusable. In the hotel's defense, we did not bring it to their attention as it was late and we were tired. Instead, we laid the mattress directly on the floor. This is a grand old building and they have done their best to preserve it. Our main objection was aloof front desk staff and its location and, in future, we will head out of the business district and closer to the shopping core.

Great Location Close to Pioneer Square Area

Posted 21-Sep-2015
Location: A very pleasant, upscale property close to Pike Market and Pioneer Square.
The Arctic Club is a great choice in downtown Seattle. The staff is very professional and courteous. The room was a good size for the price.

Pros: Elegant, quiet.
Cons: Free wi-fi and instructions on coffee/tea service which is hidden behind a cabinet.
Expedia booked me here as an alternative to my original booking which became unavailable. It was a giant step up in quality which I appreciated and a pleasant surprise to discover the Artic Club which I would book on my own in the future.
