Thank you for the "welcome fudge". We all enjoyed our stay at the Fisherman's Cottage in Seahouses, it was bright and airy with lovely views. We liked the Juliette balconies and especially the tall chairs and cafe style table. It was very handy for the shops (especially the co-op for purchasing our packed lunches and other food etc) and walks, the beach and boat tours.
We were disappointed that the room settings and table settings were not as the photos on the site, there were incomplete sets of plates and bowls and several were chipped, as were some of the mugs. Also there seemed to be no complete set of glasses, three only of the tumbler type for water or beer and three only of the plastic stemmed wine glasses which was very disappointing, although we did appreciate the large mugs. There was a good set of table cutlery, the two large knives for food prep were good and sharp but there were no small paring knives. We also found only one oven glove but there seemed to be sufficient dishes and bowls for cooking and we appreciated the foil etc left for our use.
Other little niggles were that on arrival the bathroom bins had not been emptied and there were crumbs on the soft couch, (the leather couch was uncomfortable). We couldn't find the pole openers for the (Velux?) roof windows so had to stand on a chair to open them.
We lubricated the front door and several of the other doors as they were very stiff to use, probably because of the salty atmosphere.
The shower didn't look very clean: there was a lump of soap stuck in the bifold door and much mould around the bottom, both showers need replacing/upgrading as there was poor water flow.
Another annoyance was that the chairs and TV shake when the washing machine is running and the soap dispenser drawer is very much in need of a clean.
Although there were six beds we felt that the cottage was more suitable for a family with primary age children rather that six adults.
