Luxury Living Savannah's Washington Square Collection is on Savannah’s picturesque Washington Square 2 blocks from River Street! This square, named for George Washington, is on Houston Street near the site of the old Trustees Garden. This circa 1790 - 1810 Historic Washington Square House is an 'Award Winning' Historic Restoration. After setting vacant since 1992, miraculously retained the vast majority of its original details! The original stair case, heart pine floors, all doors and hardware, windows, bead board wainscoting, fireplaces and mantles, etc, etc. The painstaking restoration was conducted by stringent guidelines laid out by the Department of Natural Resource in Washington D.C. These guidelines were followed in order to save the historic integrity of the home and its significant contribution to Savannah’s Landmark Historic District. All of this and and 2 blocks to River Street! No expense was spared on the period correct modernization of this historic property. Fully outfitted gourmet kitchen with island seating for 3 people is next to the Formal Dining Room that can seat up to 8 people. The Living Room has a large smart TV for group entertainment with historical influenced furnishings. The casual Sun Room enjoys the views of the tranquil courtyard for enjoying alfresco dining and relaxing, The 4 bedrooms all have en suite, spacious bathrooms! And just a few steps away you have an addition 2 bedrooms and 2 baths in the private carriage house. The Carriage House is a free standing cottage behind the main house with its own private entrance off the lane. It is located on the 2nd floor over the garage. Like all carriage houses in Savannah, the carriage house is where the driver lived in the 1800s above the horses and carriages they cared for. NOTES: Minimum age to reserve is 25 years old, no exceptions. TVs: We do NOT have cable, only WIFI and streaming capabilities. So bring your login info for your favorite apps. PARKING: This property has a private 2 car garage for our guests. Parking for additional vehicles: Downtown Savannah has metered, on-street parking. The courtyard was a favorite for breakfast. Right off Washington Square, and an easy walk to River Street and Broughton shopping district. The house is right on the hop-on hop-off tour bus route. Two garage spaces were very convenient. The house is beautiful and was perfect for us, but it's time for some TLC: scrape and paint exterior, fix some falling cabinet doors, update dishwasher. The welcome book was very detailed but did lean moreso to a rules and regulation standard operating procedures guidebook rather than an informative insight to the property and city of Savannah. The historic charm was truely the highlight of the weekend as this property does deliver. Neighbors are welcoming and were a pleasure to correspond with. I give it 4 stars because you can only turn down the AC to 70 degrees. I understand as an owner you want to limit that, but everyone in the house slept horribly because of the temperature. You also cannot open the windows to get a fresh breeze so it was very uncomfortable to sleep at night. Other than that, it was an incredible stay. ##### Connor L. We rented both the house and carriage house which gave us full access to the courtyard as well. Home was spotless when we arrived and nicely furnished and appointed. Binder with recommendations was very helpful though it lists more options than we could explore in a long weekend! Definitely recommend this rental for a group or large family. ##### Andrew R. Six ladies, six bedrooms with their own bathrooms (four in the main house and two in the upper part of the garage)! In walking distance to everything, and this is seriously a walking town. Clean, comfortable, and a fantastic sun room for all of us to hang out in. Suzanne who managed the house was super responsive to very minor items. We would definitely stay here again.Notes: If you cannot handle a flight of steps, this is not the place for you. Also, Savannah is a town where there are always historical home improvements happening - do not be surprised by very minor construction noises no matter where you stay. ##### Lori F. The furniture is very victorian and each of the rooms has its own bathroom, which was a lifesaver with 10 people staying. The carriage house is super cute and has it's own little kitchen, it's basically a small apartment. Everything went well, the only minor thing is that the lockbox is a little hard to open and close, not sure if a bigger one should be placed but that is minor. Overall, I highly recommend this home and it's walking distance to everything!! I would rent this in a heartbeat. Loved it from beginning to end. ##### Sheila R. First, the location is perfect, you're within a 15 minute walk to everything in Downtown Savannah. The house is beautiful and wonderfully maintained with everything you need, including a cool courtyard. The extra apartment above the garage allowed us to spread out a bit instead of all cramming into one place. If my group returns to Savannah, this will be the first place we look to stay. ##### Michael B.
