Built in 1820 by John Ballon, a free man of color, the history of Freeman’s Cottage is detailed in the book "Savannah’s Little Crooked Houses: If These Walls Could Talk," by Susan B Johnson and published by the History Press, 2007. Located downtown in the heart of Savannah’s Historical District, this charming Savannah vacation rental comfortably accommodates up to four people and features on-premise parking and a secluded garden patio. The beautiful wood used in the living area makes the space warm and inviting. Open to the kitchen, you’ll never miss a beat of the conversation. Reviewer Comments: I enjoyed my stay in this simple cottage. Simple was what I was looking for in my Savannah retreat. I appreciated having a spot to park my car. The outdoor space was perfect as well. It was full of butterflies! Overall, I thought it was quiet for being right in the middle of everything. This little cottage is absolutely adorable and perfect for a couple and or a few small dogs. The property management team was great. The location is only two blocks from the riverfront, an easy walk to most of the parks, and most of the better restaurants in historic Savannah. The property was well-kept and is neat as it is one of the historic properties While, this was no problem for us, I would make people aware that the best living arrangements are up a steep flight of stairs that are very safe and navigable, but are necessary to get around. ##### Rees L.
