It is one exceptional house in which the traditional wine press place, has converted in a large bedroom. The impressive spot is that the chamber in the territory, where the wine was running, has remained and has been covered with glass and decorated with light and stones. This is the pass to the main bedroom. The canava was built using local materials like Aspa (volcanic ash) and Poria (red volcanic stones), with traditional architecture and domed roof. The main area (canava - winery) is a living- dining room with an open kitchen. The sofa in the living-dinning room can use as a double bed. The main bedroom has a build double bed and big closet. House is decorated in a minimal style. On the back side of the canava, separated by half wall there is an open area shower on the back and the washbasin in the front of the wall. Near there, there is the toilet place and the washing machine. In the upper level there is a big open area for relax, with a private jacuzzi and a amazing view of the Cycladic islands. Downstairs there is a private large yard, in different levels, with build wide stairs. The place is protected by the summer Cycladic wind. Just 700m from the main pedestrian street of Oia and with a number of quality restaurants, the location of the canava house provides you the option to enjoy seclusion far from the crowd or visit Oia within a few minutes. The winery house is situated in the FINIKIA traditional village, a part of famous OIA village in Santorini. There is only pedestrian roads in the village without cars or motobikes that means that the village is very quite and rellaxable, so you can meet only the local people and very often with their own lovely donkeys!! The distance from the house to the main free public parking is about 200 meters and to Oia's caldera is 800 meters. You can taste the local foods in "Krinaki" tavern (60 meters from the house) or "Lefkes" restaurant with tasted mediterranean dishes and many kinds of wines (50 meters from the house). George scheduled several excursions and was always there to help us whenever we had issues. We had stayed in a very nice hotel in the touristy area of Firo prior to going to the cave house so it was very refreshing to experience the relaxing, laid back area. The restaurants near by were excellent, reasonably priced and easily accessible. Also the mini market close by had everything you could possibly need! We absolutely LOVED our stay here, and George was the best host! He helped arrange our taxi's to and from the airport, as well as meeting us at the taxi drop off and walked our luggage to the house. Everything was wonderful, very spacious, clean, and well decorated. The coffee machine and little breakfast provided was a great plus! (as well as the washing machine, as we were at the end of our 5 week holiday and desperately needed to wash some clothes!) And having our own private pool to escape the crowds and heat made this place perfect. We were located in a nice quiet area of Finika, with several restaurants and a mini mart nearby, and it was just a short, straightforward walk into the heart of Oia (10-15 minutes). It was located a little off the beaten path but in the best possible way. Quiet, but convenient to all the hustle in Oia. George was the perfect host: responsive, helpful and easily available for any needs. The house was just as pictured, but better. The best restaurants we enjoyed during our entire stay (Lefkes and Meze Meze) were literally steps away from the house. It was everything I had hoped for. The view is beautiful, although not the typical Oia view of the caldera. If you want to enjoy Santorini and Oia but don’t want to be in the crowd this is a perfect spot for you. ##### Sharon E. George was an excellent host.Finikia is a charming little village of cave houses and some more modern houses, clinging to the valley sides, within easy walking distance of Oia.The house is stylish with all the basic essentials. George kindly provided more than enough bottles of water for the week, bread, jam butter, fruit juice, coffee pods and milk.Everything is spotlessly clean.We found the bed and pillows quite hard, but we do prefer a softer bed. The bed is a thin mattress on a stone plinth, it is very low.The plunge pool, sunbeds and view are on a platform above the door, which involves climbing quite a steep set of stairs. The neighbours hot tub is within touching distance, so peace and quiet is dependent upon how noisy your neighbours are!?! ##### Jane S. We loved that it is nestled in village life, with a good mix of tourists and locals and a much slower pace than in Oia or Fira. George was a great host and helpful with our needs.
