This resort is located in the jungle so you can enjoy peaceful environment. Very close to orangutan and sunbear sanctuary. Breakfast options are very limited. Some things could be improved for example notice about renovation taking place in the resort, we touched few times freshly painted barrier and had problem to remove it from the body, there was no sign about that which was a bit annoying. Rooms also need some touch. Pool was nice, but opening hours are quite short (9am-5:30pm). Its a perfect location for exploring the sanctuaries and the food is average. There isnt loads around so its definitely fine for the few days you may be here. The closest accommodation to the Orangutan Rehabilitation Center (5 minute walk) but quite far from the Rainforest Discovery Center. Other visitors have been generous with their descriptions. Rooms need to be refurbished. Water pressure needs to be improved. The electric shower was a trickle and the temperature control was ineffective. Bedding was threadbare. Pillows were rock hard. Curtains were stained. Electric sockets and light switches were ingrained with dirt. Buffet breakfast was poor. Noodles, eggs, beans, potatoes, toast and fruit. Sounds ok but really not. Restaurant food selection was large but nothing healthy. Restaurant staff were mainly glum and certainly not welcoming. Reception staff were better. Wild dogs were roaming everywhere. Yes it is the jungle but it seems like no money is being spent here on improvements or maintenance. Stay at the Sepilok Nature Resort instead. It is still just a 5 minute walk to the orang utan and bear centres. It might cost a bit more it will be worth it. We had a meal there and it was vastly superior to the Jungle Retreat.
