70 steps to the BEACH! Three block walk to Belmont Park and local dining and attractions. Newly remodeled (May 2023) with a wonderful open design, perfect for enjoying with the whole family! Four bedrooms are as follows: TWO KING bedrooms and TWO bunk rooms. Great for sharing!

Located on the beach side of Dover Court in South Mission, just south of Belmont Park and the Giant Dipper Roller Coaster. Part of a two-unit home, this property is the whole upper-level, located above a separate two-bedroom beach cottage.

TWO OUTDOOR AREAS: ONE BALCONY DECK OFF THE LIVING ROOM WITH A WHITE WATER VIEW AND ONE ROOFTOP DECK WITH AN OCEAN VIEW! Note that this property does not share the ground-level patio, and instead has a balcony as well as a private rooftop deck. Spend your mornings and evenings on the rooftop complete with BBQ, sitting area, and ocean view! Enjoy grilling and dining while just steps away from the deep blue sea, the boardwalk, sandy beach, and surf. The location is ideal, making this property convenient to beach activities and all the other sights you don’t want to miss while in San Diego! Check the map to see for yourself!

Two king bedrooms, two kid bedrooms, as well as two sofa sleepers. Plenty of sleeping space to choose from.

* We love our furry family, but please leave your pets at home. We have a strict no pet-policy to keep our homes clean and allergy-free for all guests!

* Markets and restaurants are all within a 2 to 3-block walk.

* Lots of bike, kayak, surfboard, and sailboat rentals all nearby.

* Plenty of boogie boards and sand toys available at the property for guest use.

* We have a guest laundry room with multiple washers and dryers that will help you pack lightly. Don’t forget your beach towels!

* Garage parking! Private reserved two-car garage that barely fits a large SUV with big garage door open, but we advise to bring/rent an average or smaller car at the beach, if you can!

The location of the house was amazing! Check in was easy. It was a bit tricky finding the house with the narrow neighborhoods but Sharon was available to help navigate to it. The space was open and can accommodate 6-8 people. They even have a rooftop terrace to hangout and enjoy the sunset. Beach is only a few steps away. The only negative was the cleanliness. We did find hair strands on some of the nightstands and mold in the showers.

Fun location and place

The kids and I really enjoyed our stay. The beach is so close to see from the balcony or rooftop, and nice to have a short walk onto the sand. The place was clean and comfortable.

Holiday Get away!

We had a wonderful time in Mission Beach at Mermaid’s Hideaway. It was lovely- the space was large and open, with great bedrooms and the rooftop deck was awesome. It was steps to the beach and conveniently located close to restaurants and coffee shops. We had great breakfast at the Blue Palm, right around the corner. The kitchen was really well stocked with equipment and the owners were so friendly and helpful! I would highly recommend this property!

Beautiful place

This place was perfect for our large group with kids. The kids loved the loft bunk bed room because they all got to stay together in one room. The kitchen and living room area was very spacious. The kitchen had a great amount of plates, utensils, pots, pans, everything you could need to make dinner at home. The location to the beach was great and the kids enjoyed access to the boogie boards and sand toys.

Friends and family

A baseball weekend trip for 2 couples to get away from the stresses of home turned into 3 couples, kids, and a grandma. This place had space for everyone and was steps from the beach. Would definitely return. Great host. Mentioned that the upstairs fireplace wasn’t working and a new one was delivered in the morning. Awesome experience.

Great house with a fantastic location!

Just spent several days at the Mermaid house and loved it. I took my teenage son and several of his friends. The boys loved the location. We were steps from the beach, very close to Belmont Park and lots of restaurants. Its in the middle of things but still quiet. The house was perfectly clean and, although not beach front, has great beach views. Two of the bedrooms are kind of small but there are plenty of beds. The kitchen and living room have been beautifully updated. The rooftop deck has a great view of the ocean. There is plenty of hot water, lots of towels and the kitchen is well appointed, there is even a fantastic kitchenaid mixer. The washer / dryer is not actually inside the house, its down the stairs but easily accessible and there are two so its easy to get it all done quickly. This condo gets the whole garage, the spots are tight so do not bring a big SUV. We had rented a mid sized SUV and it fit but was tight. We had a slight issue with the grill and the management company was very responsive and found us a solution quickly. I would definitely rent it again!

Get away after Disney - Very relaxing!

We booked here to stay after the hustle and bustle of a disney vacation, we are from Canada so the weather was a nice reprieve even though cold for most in November. You can sit at the kitchen island and watch the waves roll, off the front deck or the roof top deck! It was the perfect balance of close to the beach but not too close for noise. We had 4 adults and 6 kids during our stay and the house could accomodate us all with 2 full bathrooms. There are beach chairs outside for use, beach toys, umbrella, boogie boards! Plenty out outside lounging/dining options on premises and steps to the beach made washroom breaks or lunch breaks very accessible. You are also very close to souvenir shops, restaurants and starbucks! There are rental stores for wet suites, bikes, surf or paddle boards if you need an addition. Also the bonus of laundry on site was great! We loved this accomodation and would definitely recommend and be back. My only feedback for our host would be to provide a few essentials in the kitchen like olive oil, dish detergent, laundry detergent, spices other than salt and pepper and some basic coffee/tea, sugar. We flew here so having to purchase that was a bit of a hassle as they don't make travel size. Other than that you're all set here!

Very expensive for what it is - no air conditioning

The home was overall ok. The claim that it is fully renovated is a bit of a stretch. The kitchen and living room absolutely are new and beautiful. But the bathrooms are dated and just put stickers on old tile with a landord's special paint job on old cabinets. Bedrooms had very old outdoor carpet. We were very surprised that there was no air conditioning. In fairness maybe that is the norm for this area but the two smaller rooms with the bunk beds were tiny and no real air flow in them made it VERY uncomfortable for the kids to try and sleep in there. Not having a/c was definitely our biggest issue. There was no propane tank on grill and roof top deck fire feature propane tank was completely empty. We finally found back up ones a couple days in because they were not in the place the home guide said they would be. In fairness I could have just text the property contact and asked but didn't. When I did text her about something I did get an immediate response. Ice machine and water on refrigerator do not work and the lighting throughout was not great with a mix of bright cold white lights mixed with warm softer light. The bed mattresses were definitely not the most comfortable/high quality. Again, the home was ok and we did enjoy ourselves but for $5k for 3 nights we just expected a bit more I guess.

Great location! But, if you are a picky about beds/ mattresses, etc. squeaking soft mattresses are less than ideal. Broken door lock on garage, etc. worn out screen and shower doors. In short, perfect location, lots of restaurants and activities for kids, just in need of a few upgrades and maintenance needed to justify the price.

Family get-away

Booked for a quick getaway for the family. Place was stocked and was pretty much the standard for the area. We've stayed in 10 or so short term rentals along the southern CA coast, we enjoyed this one as much as any of the others.
