A typical Tuscan medieval village, located in the northernmost part of the Chianti Classico region, about 15 kilometres from Florence and about 50 kilometres from Siena. San Casciano is a veritable archaeological treasure trove, much of which remains hidden. Above all, however, it is a region with a history spanning several millennia. The town centre is situated in a beautiful hilly area that has been inhabited since Etruscan times, as evidenced by the discovery of the so-called “Tomba dell’Arciere” (Archer’s Tomb) in Montefiridolfi and the excavations at Poggio La Croce. The hosts were very responsive to all inquiries. Went to Florence via tram from a nearby town as per Niccolo’s suggestion. The town of San Casciano was very welcoming. We frequented many small shops and by the end of the week we felt like family. Highly recommend this hidden gem for a real taste of small town Italy!

The apartment was beautiful and the host was very quick to respond to messages to help with check in. The self check in was easy. There was a bottle of wine in the apartment and it was very good. The stairs to the apartment were quite steep.
