Room service took 30 minutes to bring one tea, mind you hotel is not even half full, we had to cancel the order because it was getting way too late. The only thing that redeems this travel is the SPA experience, everything was excellent. The location was very good for us as we wanted to be away from the hustle and bustle of the sightseeing areas but within easy reach - we used Yandex which worked very well and very cheap ( 15,000 to 30,000 soms each way to the main tourist sights, railway, airport). We also prioritised modern facilities over traditional hotels but If you want a more authentic experience you may want to go elsewhere. During our stay we also used the restaurant/bar in a nearby hotel on the same site which was a short walk away which was good also. The staff were very friendly, but the service was a bit patchy. There looked as though there was still a lot of staff training going on and I’m sure this will improve with time. Our only other point is that the swimming pool was closed (pool has no water in) and we felt that we given the 5 star status we should have been advised of this. It is very Chinese in its design and theme which was really cool given Samarkand was the beast UNH heart of the Great Silk Road between China and Italy! Everything was top notch and the ate it is in is extremely convenient!
