Timber House Resort

"This is such a hidden gem! The resort/timber house is absolutely beautiful and so very well maintained. Our room was just so quaint with a four poster bed and antique furniture abounding! Bathroom reasonable size with great water pressure. We had sliding doors that stepped out onto a porch with Muskoka chairs. The rooms are divided among three floors, with only a total of 10 rooms available. Each has its own charm. From the resort, it is a short walk to the beach. The water was high when we were there, but you can just walk down the stairs and into the water which is what we did. There is a lovely pool should that be your preference. We went into the great room (that serves as a breakfast room in the mornings) and played some cards in the evening, and it is just such a comfortable and welcoming vibe. The proprietors are there to help you with anything you need, and just make you feel as though nothing is too much to ask for. Jams with some of the most amazing ingredients (grape peppermint is awesome) are homemade right at the resort. Breakfast is served to order and included in the price. At breakfast you can order a selection of small ramekins of a variety of jams so you can "taste test" before trying. The venue does do big events (think wedding tent) but we were just there for one overnight stay. Will definitely go back and would love to experience the fall colours, maybe winter, with a fire in the beautiful great hall fireplace. Easy to get to any of the surrounding parks"

"The property is beautiful. The unit has a queen bed, a small table, a microwave and small fridge. The bathroom is spacious and clean. Not suitable to make meals but great if you just need a clean place to sleep. Laura was very accommodating. The roosters are right outside the door so be ready for an early wake up call! We loved the greetings each morning "

"It was clean when we checked in and as advertised. The air-conditioning was great and the property was quiet and lovely. The peace and quiet was lovely. The kitchen had everything you could want except I would have appreciated a blender for frozen drinks. The only annoying thing was that we had to take any and all garbage and recycling away with us, which after a week was significant. Or for the cost of 40 we could have had them take it away. This was not disclosed till the email a week before check in. It was a little inconvenient."

"Our cottage was reasonably clean. It is rustic but we enjoyed our stay. The 3 queen beds were comfortable and nice pillows provided. Staff answered very quickly when I texted them. The kitchen was adequately stocked with dishes and utensils. Pool was very nice and location of cottage so close to the river was nice for fishing and kayaking and was beautiful! We enjoyed bonfires and barbecues. It is close enough to Campbellford to go on an outing and hike across the suspension foot bridge and get donuts from Doohers bakery. Cottage could use a bit of repair of the air conditioner and the door. Hopefully they will do that and make it 5 star."

"The house is a perfect location for attending events at the Maple Valley Wedding Venue. The host is very responsive and the check-in process was flawless. Our family was comfortable during our stay. The kitchen is very well appointed, we thoroughly appreciated the coffee maker and supplies to get us going in the morning. If I could make a suggestion, having the ability to hang items in each of the bedrooms rather than just the primary bedroom would have made preparations for the wedding a little easier. We didn't want to add any weight to curtain rods in the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms. We enjoyed our stay and I would recommend this location for families looking to stay in this area."
