Find hotels in Salang from £18

The best area to stay in Salang is the central village area, particularly around the main road that runs through the settlement.

This area is the heart of Salang, where you'll find the primary guesthouses, local eateries, and small shops. It's a compact and easily navigable area, great for those who want to be close to the local community and amenities. The main road serves as the central artery, with most establishments situated either directly on it or just a short walk off it.

Couples looking for a quiet retreat will find the central village appealing. The guesthouses here often offer comfortable, clean rooms with basic facilities, and some even provide views of the surrounding hills and the Trishuli River. It's an excellent base for gentle walks through the terraced fields or simply enjoying the peaceful village life.

For solo travellers, staying in the central village offers convenience and a chance to interact with locals and fellow travellers. The communal dining areas in some guesthouses provide opportunities to share experiences and learn about the local culture.

The best time to visit Salang is during the dry seasons, specifically from October to November in autumn or March to April in spring.

These months offer comfortable temperatures, typically ranging from 20°C to 28°C, and clear skies, which are ideal for outdoor activities and enjoying the scenic views of the surrounding hills and the Trishuli River. The air is generally crisp and free from the humidity and heavy rainfall of the monsoon season.

For those interested in trekking or exploring the local culture, autumn is particularly good as it often coincides with major festivals like Dashain and Tihar, offering a chance to witness local traditions. Spring also provides pleasant weather and blooming rhododendrons in the higher elevations, making it attractive for nature lovers.

Conversely, the monsoon season from June to September brings heavy rains, which can lead to landslides and make roads difficult to navigate.
