Great family vacation
Amazing stay at a great property. We were a 3 generational party of 15 (Ages 11 - 78). Plenty of space with all bedrooms having their own bathroom. Kitchen and dining space were excellent for large family meals as well as grazing through the day. Lots of cooking equipment if that is your thing. Pool was a good size and really well maintained with daily visits from the pool maintenance team. We had great weather all week. Great outdoor space for a BBQ on a nice evening as well. Supermarket just 5 mins away and local town has a selection of smaller shops. Clear dark skies at night - best view we have had of the Milky Way in years! Lots of owls at night when we were there. A character property which was fun to stay in.

So much space!
We were 8 adults and 7 children, with bedrooms configured as: 1st floor, 4 doubles with en suite inc wc and a twin with separate wc. 2nd floor: 2 twins and a triple. 2 bathrooms inc wc. On the ground floor was a separate wc, kitchen, dining room (seats 16 well), 2 living rooms (1 inc pool table) and a study (which we didn’t use). Outside we had space that was plentiful and a good sized pool. Including a good sized flat area we used for cricket. Things to note: 1. There is a EUR2000 deposit. It was returned but do plan for it. 2. It is a 5 minute drive to a local supermarket 3. There is a table tennis table with old, but useable, bats in the basement. 4. There is a BBQ and outside dining for 16. But we couldn’t find outside lighting. 5. There is enough crockery for 20 + but the knives are not sharp. 6. There is a washing machine and dishwasher. 7. There are 8 sun loungers. 8. There is 1 TV. We only used it for the odd kids movie of an evening as there is plenty else to do. With a group that large we struggled to stagger showers/baths as the water pressure, particularly to the top floor, was poor. Probably not surprising given the age and size of the property but we didn’t plan for it on day 1 and got caught out. We got more organised after that. We drank bottled water after day 1 too as one of our group got ill. We don’t know if that was over cautious or not but we did. We would return as for a group holiday the property had everything we wanted.

One of our favourite French Houses
We are an extended family of 14 to 20 (between the young and the elderly) that have holidayed together in France for more than 15 years. We look for relaxed elegance, a house that allows us to function both as a group and individuals .... and with grounds to do the same. We enjoy being ever-changing groups of individuals during the day whilst we typically come together en masse for meals. This has proved to be perfect for our needs. And we found the on-site staff and the visit of the owner enhanced our enjoyment The interior of the house appeared to have been freshly decorated and we couldn’t fault it. The ground floor was spacious with interconnecting rooms that were often used during the day because we arrived during Frances hottest ever period. some of us might be reading on the terrace, some reading indoors or doing a jigsaw, some playing pool, and some catching up on the guitar. Each of us could make a choice without disturbing the others while still feeling connected to the overall group. The owners kindly went out and bought us fans for each room. Quibbles?.... there are conflicts between the pricing and terms on the website and the detailed contract provided after booking. The owner though was happy to listen and made the right decision and deleted the unexpected charge. It would be appropriate if the area around the pool were upgraded to the standard of the beautifully decorated interior of the house. We were probably the first visitors of the season but the pool surround needed weeding and the pool liner could have been cleaner . Although there were some poolside umbrellas we took our own gazebo to provide full shade by the pool ....we feel that a house of this quality should have permanent shade by the pool which would also greatly increase its atmosphere We were very satisfied overall and we can thoroughly recommend it

Beautiful setting, stunning chateau - a great holiday!
We had a fantastic time at the chateau. Arnaud the owner couldn't be more accommodating and helpful from start to finish. We were a large group of 20 consisting of 5 families. The chateau is huge with 8 bedrooms. Arnaud was kind enough to reconfigure the rooms for us so we could house the babies and little people. The décor in the house is traditional French style with a mod cons in the kitchen. Plenty of dining space to accommodate even our huge group! Pool area and grounds are perfect for chilling out or letting the kids run around, Games room was a welcomed addition too. The Chateau is c50 mins from La Rochelle airport and easy to find. Some of our group also took the Eurotunnell and ferries to get there. There is a large Super U supermarket 5 mins drive from the Chateau in Saint Savinen which has quality produce to stock you up for the week. The town of Saint Savinen has a great little lake where you can hire vintage model boats to sail drive around and a big bouncy castle park for the kids. Markets in Santes and La Rochelle also well worth a visit. A great holiday all in all and will be back...thanks Arnaud.

Beautiful chateau, far beyond expectations
We visited the chateau in June for a weekend away with friends and family. It is suffice to say we were blown away with how beautiful the chateau and it’s grounds are. Our host Arnaud was particularly kind and really went above and beyond to make sure our stay was enjoyable. The house itself was clean, amenities were ample and every surface, every fireplace and every table was topped with a beautiful antique statue or vase. The rooms varied in quality but were all comfortable and clean. There were 15 of us in total and ample space to accommodate all of us comfortably. The pool and grounds are wonderful, we heard cuckoo birds hooting and my friend saw an especially rare orchid growing wild in the fields of the house. I can’t reccomend it enough, we all fell in love and didn’t want to leave after the weekend was done!

Endroit merveilleux. Plein de charme. Grande Maison familiale très sympathique, bourrée de chambres avec des bonnes salles de bain impeccables chacune. Seul les lits sont moyens....mais je crois qu'ils vont être changés. Grand parc ravissant avec piscine/très longue table de repas avec une vingtaine de chaises dehors, en fer forgé impeccable. Le logis, juste à côté, est bien arrangé, extrêmement agréable aussi. Nous étions une grande famille, tous réunis quelques jours pour un mariage, et chacun a adoré cet endroit calme, romantique et accueillant. Nous y serions bien restés plus longtemps !

Family reunion
Delightful chateau in lovely grounds ,near several pretty towns and villages, Saint Savinien 5 mins down the road. Swimming pool good size and near house. Plenty of seating for big party. Good to have bikes to wander round local villages, also good walks. Housekeeper,Dominique and caretaker Jean Marie very pleasant and helpful. A great place for a family get together.

Everything you expect it to be - and more!
We stayed here during my son's wedding in Rochefort. Perfect for a large family 'get together'. Beautiful surroundings and reasonably close to Saintes which has everything you will need. There's a good SuperU just over a mile away so you are not isolated. The accommodation is flexible with some fantastic bedrooms on the first floor; the second floor is a bit on the dark side but the kids loved it. Massive dining table and just about every thing you could ever want in the kitchen. The living areas are cosy and relaxed - the pool table was almost almost always in use. We were there during atrocious weather so didn't get chance to use the swimming pool unfortunately. To give a balanced view, it may be a bit dated for some tastes but for us this was a plus in that it made us feel more relaxed (if everything was pristine we would have been worrying about damaging something). The owner, Charles Arnaud, was very helpful. I did a lot of research before booking as I couldn't understand why we were getting so much for such a relatively little price - to be honest, couldn't really fault it for what we paid.

A 6 Star Experience
We visited with three families, 14 people in total, and every individual enjoyed this stay extraordinarily. You feel the historical aura of this château, and, given that it's still in caring family hands, that you are not lacking a single thing in your everyday vacation life, from grand Bialettis through table tennis rackets. We were lucky to make Monica & Arnaud’s acquaintance, that left us deeply impressed with their warm-heartedness and their sense of beauty, valuing old items such as the restored, antique billiard table that was enjoyed by the teenagers with considerable due respect. The castle was clean, the private pool even cleaned every single morning. The concierges, Isabelle and her husband were there whenever required. We enjoyed the opulent bedrooms, each featuring its own bath. Two fully-equipped, large kitchens with wide gas stoves and ovens, a veritable BBQ — any meal to think of can easily be prepared, and we relished a few, surrounded by the estate’s serene, green hills and age-old trees. The children would gleefully play soccer all afternoon on the wide lawns. For fleeting moments, we felt that the château had been our very own. If we wrote how much we liked this, we’ll likely never have a chance of coming again ;) Un profond, grand merci et un chaleureux “au revoir” à Monica et Arnaud!

endroit parfait pour notre week end (nous étions 14). Tout le nécessaire pour permettre à des ado et de jeunes enfants de s'occuper : cabane dans les arbres, piscine, terrain immense pour le foot le cache cache, salle de billard, et petites pièces sympa pour laisser aux plus vieux la possibilité de se mettre au calme ; et des animaux à découvrir ( lièvre chevreuil ragondin....). Merveilleux moments en famille dans un cadre magnifique
Nous n'avons pas vu le temps passé. Beaucoup de jeux à disposition en plus de la piscine (un peu fraîche en cette saison 😉). Nous n'avons pas ressenti le besoin de sortir de la propriété. Lieu idéal pour un séjour en famille.

Première expérience dans un chateau
Location parfaite pour un groupe .quelques imperfections du à l âge du chateau(grincements de portes quelques insectes indésirables, chaleur excessive dans les chambles)mais à part ces quelques deconvenus,le château était féerique le parc immense,la piscine grande et agréable. A recommander pour un groupe pas trop regardant et avide d aventure moyennageuse

Un week end inoubliable
Tout était parfait, chacun a pu s’approprier très vite les lieux. Tout est fait pour que nous ayons juste les valises à poser et à profiter. Les chambres sont préparés, le linge de toilette est à disposition, la cuisine est bien équipée... bref, il faut juste prévoir l'alimentaires et les effets personnels. Tout le monde était unanime pour dire que le château et ses extérieurs étaient magnifiques, parc très grand avec de très beaux arbres, piscine, vélos à disposition... Evasion garantie! On prend un réel plaisir à le découvrir et à s'y perdre. Une fois que nous l'avons quitté nous n'avons qu'une envie, y revenir!

Séjour familial inoubliable : à chacun de créer sa féérie au Château de la Chaussée
Notre deuxième séjour familial au château de la Chaussée a encore ravi petits et grands tant l’atmosphère qui se dégage de cette belle demeure est enchanteresse et totalement dépaysante. Le cachet de l’ameublement et de la décoration du 19ème côtoient la modernité du confort contemporain. L’espace intérieur et la dimension du parc du château permettent à toute la famille de vivre à son rythme : repos dans les belles chambres spacieuses toutes équipées de salle de bain avec toilette, rêverie individuelle lors d’une marche dans le parc ou assis sur les marches à contempler la perspective de la campagne environnante, joie collective des enfants s’ébattant autour d’un ballon ou de la table de ping-pong sans oublier le plaisir pour les jeunes d’un bain dans la grande piscine sécurisée même quand le soleil de début mai n’a pas encore eu bien le temps de la chauffer au goût des adultes. Selon le temps, les repas peuvent se prendre soit à l’intérieur soit à l’extérieur, les installations sont adaptées et nous pouvons compter sur le grand barbecue. En cas de pluie et de temps frais, pas de soucis d’aucun lise, d’autres jouent du piano ou aux dames, à la pâte à modeler … tous réchauffés par un bon feu de cheminée. Au château de la Chaussée tout est fait pour passer des moments inoubliables à chacun de créer sa féérie. Vous l’avez certainement compris nous reviendrons l’année prochaine. Arnaud, propriétaire des lieux est très prévenant et s’attache au bon accueil de ses hôtes. Merci à lui et à l’intendante des lieux Dominique. Olivier et Christine leurs enfants et 10 petits enfants (âgés de 5 mois à 11 ans)

Le chateau etait a la hauteur de nos attentes. Rien nous manque'.
Nous gardons des tres bon souvenirs de nos vacanses de famille au Chateau de la Chaussee. Avec 15 pers de ma famille on a pu manger ensemble aux grandes tables qu'il y avait dedans et dehors. La piscine etait tres apprecie' pendant des journees de chaleurs. Des personnes (gardien et dame d'acceuille) etait disponible a tout moment. L'emplacement est magnifique et bien place' pour faire d'autres visites dans la journee. A recommander sans hesitation!

Un sejour inoubliable, dans un merveilleux cadre, un proprietaire conciliant, aimable, du personnel adorable et reactif... nous y avons passé un séjour de qualité, nos invités ont été impressionnés, ils ont des souvenirs plein la tête, s'autorisent même à rever de futur séjours dans ce même cadre, cousinades, reunion de familles, vacances entre amis... En résumé ce fut de l avis de toute la famille des superbes vacances dans un très beau cadre
Excellent contact avec le propriétaire , nous lui avions suggéré l achat d un bac à sable pour le futur, 2 jours après il était là , avec pelle et sceau !encore un grand merci ! Le château a beaucoup de charme , digne des livres de la comtesse de Ségur , tout en ayant tout le confort moderne , sdb et cuisine bien équipée . TBeau parc avec piscine . Les personnes qui s occupent du château et du parc sont aux petits soins et d une grande gentillesse. Nous avons passé des très belles vacances en famille avec nos enfants et petits enfants, et comme tout ce qui est bon ça a passé beaucoup trop vite !
