I’m rating this based on European standards which are much older and smaller properties without AC are common. We had a sea view which we loved the terrace and how it opened up and you can watch the tides and hear the sea crashing and get a breeze. The staff was friendly and helpful but this property was all about location and the sea view. The room itself was very tight, and the bathroom was ridiculously small where many Americans will not fit. If you stay here inquired about the bathroom space for your room. Based on what I saw on the waterfront I don’t think I would have found anything better. Even the larger hotel a few doors down didn’t have the quaint terrace which is what was most appealing. Also be aware there is no lift which is also common for many of these boutique hotels, although carrying suitcases upstairs could be a challenge for many people so I’m being honest about pros/cons. If I did it over again I think I would stick to this property as long as it’s 2 nights but not longer, too claustrophobic.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Les Charmettes, on the beach at Saint Malo. We ate breakfast and dinner there one of the days we were there and the food was very good. The employees were nice and very helpful. We wish we could have stayed longer!

The room was very compact.The bed was a small double and the shower was tiny, so small that it was difficult to clean yourself properly without knocking your elbows. A large person would have difficulty fitting into the shower. The stairs were carpeted in a fabric which made it difficult to see the individual steps. The restaurant was fully booked (on a Monday night) so can't comment on it, other than to say that it is on the beach and that booking is definitely required. Parking in the streets was very easy so I wouldn't bother about booking the hotel parking. Staff were friendly enough, but it seems that this hotel trades upon it's location (which can't be faulted).
