In the heart of the city, close to restaurants and the Marketplace. A very unique and historic building. Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. We had a wonderful breakfast.
The Hosts Neil and Laine were very helpful and knowledgeable. Breakfast was very delicious and enjoyed the morning conversations with Neil and guests.Thank you for making our stay memorable!
Great location and view, charming main floor rooms and atmosphere, excellent breakfasts. For me, my guest room was fine; however, it would be a challenge for travelers with any limited mobility - you must go up and down two flights of narrow winding stairs each day and the tub for the shower would be a challenge for someone to get in and out of and feel stable.
We chose this inn for it's proximity to the Digby ferry, and it is indeed very close. The property is beautiful, charming and filled with period antiques. The room was comfortable, but one should be aware that there is no elevator and the stairs get a tad narrow towards the top making getting up and down with or without luggage a bit difficult. There is a beautiful common lounge, lovely dining room with a very good breakfast provided and a lovely area outside with Adirondack chairs overlooking the harbour. Would recommend.
Property owner was available right away when we checked in. We had difficulty with the tv remote and box not working properly, the manager sent in someone to troubleshoot the problem immediately and solved the issue.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
The exterior was in such poor condition that we were hesitant to go in however the interior is very well cared for. The breakfast was wonderful.
Owner was nice and friendly. Breakfast was good. Historic Inn 1850.s
But
One small detail not the fault of the owners.
The property is on a hilltop overlooking the city of St John. There is a freight train line down below the hill where three trains in the middle of the night blew loud and i mean loud repeated train whistles. As the B & B does not have AC we had windows open for cool air and our sleep was disrupted and disturbed!!
Nothing to do about this except stay elsewhere or keep windows closed. Not sure even that would help

Don't let the dated exterior fool you. Inside you'll find a historic space that is warm and welcoming. This is clearly not a sterile hotel without personality. This mansion has a story to tell. If you're okay with staying in an older building overlooking the S. John harbor, you'll love this place. Just know that on a warm summer's night with the windows open, there's going to be some traffic noise coming from both sides. But the fabulous breakfast in the morning will make you return to this place, just like we did.

The owners are lovely people. The breakfast was very good and the rooms are period to the Inn. My friend and I found the stairs challenging and would advise anyone with issues walking make sure you book the room on the first floor.

The friendly hosts and the elaborate, tasty breakfast were the highlights of our stay here. The room was spacious and clean and the bed was comfortable. The shower set-up on the clawfoot tub reminded us of our first home and were fine, but a grab bar to help getting out would be helpful. The gardens were pleasant. The outside of the building was a bit tired and worn looking; I'm sure upkeep on such a large, historic building is tough.
Historic B&B, nice property and grounds, private parking, good dinner recommendation, able to accommodate late check-in from ferry, great hot breakfast.
Great bed and breakfast place. Wonderful breakfast (good coffee, fruit, waffles), friendly guests, and great hosts. Beautiful view of Saint John port, able to open windows for night breeze, and very close to downtown (easy drive) and close to reversible Falls area.
Such a comfortable bed and breakfast, and centrally located for exploring Saint John. The bed is comfy, the breakfast is delicious, and the property and its hosts are charming. Don't miss the reversing falls!
