The hotel common area and my room had a really unpleasant odor that never went away. Also, they tried to charge me five euros to leave my backpack the next day, I refused on principle and ended carrying my backpack with me around Rome all day. They also charge for WiFi.

The room was very cosy, clean and comfortable. All staff was very helpful, but Luigi really went above and beyond and provided excellent assistance day after day. Location was also very good, close to train and bus stations, including airport shuttle. There were many attractions not far from it. I had a great time at this hotel and I would gladly stay here again!

The shared bathroom was not great. The hotel had a run down feel. But the location for exploring Rome was great.

This hotel is absolutely disgusting
I have stayed in better hostels then this hotel. The staff were rude. We had to hand our key into reception every time we left the room even if it was just to run next door to the shop then had to wait a reception ever time to collect it to get back into our room. The hotel is so dirty. There was black hair all over the tiles in our room. The room was dated and filthy. The shared bathroom hadn’t had soap in the soap dispenser for about 5 years. It smelt and was so dirty that I felt cleaner before my shower. Absolutely horrendous. Don’t do it!

Hotel right next to train station and easily walkable to all major attractions. Unknowingly booked a shared bathroom which the wife wasn’t best pleased about . Good for laying your head after a long day seeing the sights.

If you need to be next to the Termini
We had both a very good and a very bad experience here. My son stayed in a room that smelled and he was very uncomfortable. Two weeks later we had already booked two rooms, this time I upgraded the rooms for ones with private baths and my room was great. His was not quite great. The hotel is noisy due to the traffic to the shared bathroom which was in the hallway outside my door. The location is good to get out of town.

Nice location, nickle n dime you.
Got my own bed at a little above hostel prices. Bathroom was down thr hall. Lots of hot water. Doors super loud impossible to close quietly. 24 hr reception. Wifi and breakfast policy super deceptive. They charge you for everything thry can. Thought I was getting free wifi but nope. They charge $5 per day. When my personal hotspot ran out they wouldnt even give me 5 minutes so I could top up. Charged me $5 to keep my bags a couple hours after I checked out. Right next to termini so thats nice. Hotel staff were pretty meh about everything, but that seems to be Italian.

Not a pleasant stay
Hotel is not well maintained. Stay are not welcoming and wifi is not free. Bathrooms had mold on the ceiling and the bathrooms were not cleaned well. Overall I would recommend somewhere else.

Staff was very rude and made it clear that because they were a 2 star hotel they did not have to do anything extra than give us a room.

As a place to sleep while in transit, or as a place to crash after a tiring days sight-seeing the fascinating city of Rome, the location of the Hotel Marsala is perfect - one minute walk from Termini Station, and walking distance to the Centro Storico. BUT, a BIG BUT, the management of the Hotel Marsala MUST do something about the ill-fitting doors of the bedrooms, which require a degree of force to open and close, with the result that a great deal of door-slamming at all hours of the day and night is a feature of this hotel.

Hotel close to metro central station
WiFi must be paid, refrigerator isn't good and also underground Train Induced Vibrations on Building Structures sometimes, but it is so closed to metro central.

Nothing nice to say about this hotel and the room I stayed in.One dim light,a sink that dripped always.plug in did not work,tv didn,t work.Room was next to the lobby with arguing and loud voices all night.Charged five euros a day for Wi-Fi .Two euros for a towel for the shared bathroom which had a sewer odor.Worst room I have ever stayed in.Dissapointed Expedia recommends this hotel.

True budget hotel.
A true budget hotel. You get what you pay for. The room was very basic and ours was especially noisy. You could hear people having a shower, people talking in the corridor. It's fine if you just want a cheap bed to sleep.

The only advantage - a very good location
The location of Hotel Marsala is great but this is the only advantage. The room was well equipped, but there was a problem in the bathroom with the hot water mixer. And also it was terrible because the noise from the other doors on the floor was so strong and we did not sleep well at all. Also when we step on the floor the all room moved like in an earthquake. We did not sleep well at all. The breakfast - actually was not a breakfast - first we had to go to the other hotel next to Marsala to have a breakfast there. And also the breakfast was announced till 10:00 but from 9:30 there was no any food left so 3 out of 5 mornings we had to have breakfast outside. So as a final conclusion I can say that only the location is great. All the rest - no thank you!

Very bad hotel (but well relocated)
Rooms cramped , a window facing the street of the central bus station , causing loud noise makes it difficult to rest . Shared services tax ' room . No hot water kettle . You can purchase little amount of water in the machine. Bad service . Were not willing turning before eight in the morning , we did not get an adequate response , but always the excuse : " What can you do with a two -star hotel " . The hotel owner frowns and his bad attitude to guests. On departure , the hotel owner requires me to pay municipal taxes , although I paid for them in advance . Even if they paid me - will not go back to this hotel .

Fine as somewhere cheap and basic to sleep
If you just want somewhere cheap, basic and clean to bed down for a couple of night to explore Rome, then this place is fine. No frills, no air con and you have to pay for wi-fi. But it's very convenient for the train station/ metro and you can walk to the main attractions in about 15/20mins. The staff are as friendly to you as you are to them. It was very cheap and very basic, and in need up updating, but it's fine if you just want a cheap bed for a couple of nights.

Dirty. Bunch of extra expenses. 4$ per towel, wifi not free and you are not allowed to bring food or drinks from outside... What a joke. I don't suggest this hotel to anybody. Pay extra 50$ and go somewhere descent.

Very disappointed. Wifi wasn't included, our air conditioning was broken, and we had to pay to store our bags. We asked the front desk multiple times for help with this and all they said was you got a very good price. Yes we did, but we did not post the price so it is not my problem when you post that these things are included and you deny us of them. Really disappointed in this hotel. The room was great, however we had a problem getting outlets to work.

The best thing about the hotel was that it is situated right next to the Roma Termini Station. Also the Rome sightseeing buses start from the road just outside the hotel. The room was good and clean but the bathrooms were not cleaned regularly. There were many street side cafes and souvenir shops in the locality and the window of the room had a great view of the Sacre Coeur Church adjacent to the hotel. However the person at the reception was slightly rude and did not make it clear whether breakfast (for which you pay extra) was optional and it was also mentioned that every time we left the hotel we had to leave the keys at the reception which wasn't very convenient every time.

For the price, we weren't expecting the Ritz, but the hotel was clean and comfortable enough. The location is great - less than 5 minutes walk to the railway station. The staff were very helpful. Great value for money.

Terrible hotel with a good location
Marsala is a terrible hotel, even for budget travellers. All furnatures are old and rusty, beds are in a terrible condition, bathrooms are unusable and hotel staff is really rude. Location is tempting but overall it is not worth it at all. They do not let anybody in your room, not even 5 minutes. They wanna charge you for everything. Overall I would not recommend it.

Good Location for Rome Termini
I booked an overnight stay at the Marsala which I knew was close to Rome Termini and transport around the city. This is the only thing I can recommend about the hotel. Both the room and the bathroom were extremely dirty. I didn't expect The Ritz from a 2 star hotel but I did expect cleanliness.

Angry administration in bad poor hotel
It was terrible! The owner didn't allow my friend from England with whom I spent our holidays enter the hotel, even to help me carry my bag to the room. My friend showed him ticket to London for his fly at 21.00 (we arrived at 17.00)) he cried that he'll call to police! So I pulled heave bags by myself, put friend's things to his case while he was staying in hot street, than we went to Termini very sad and surprised.

Does what it says on the can.
Having previously spent 4 nights in Rome we returned following our Amalfi Coast tour. Whilst it's not that flash it is cheap and super close to the station. Would recommend for budget travellers of those looking for a quick stop.

The only good thing is the location
The hotel is right next to the Termini station which connects you all around the city, but the staff was rude, the rooms were abysmal, there is no air conditioning. I definitely overpaid for my stay. They also don't allow guests to come up to the room, even for a minute without wanting to charge you.
