Terribly uncomfortable, dirty, run-down old hotel
The entire hotel is a rundown old wreck. Looks like the furniture is from the 1960's and is heavily damaged, scratched. Floors and lobby looked dirty and heavily used. Two elevators aren't enough. People line up for ages especially during the early- and late hours. Frequent electronic noise, buzzes coming from various places (not just the room equipment) occur especially during late hours. Sometimes the door lock doesn't open and you have to travel between the reception and your room to get a new access card. There's not enough staff and too little space in this hotel. Crowds barely had space to stand around the reception and the breakfast room would get flooded every morning. Breakfast is above basic, but some foods run out fast (due to the crowds). It can also be hard to get a table. It took 1 hour for the receptionist to check me in, although most people were just chatting to the receptionists or just standing there at the desk. There was a weird old blocked wooden door in my room. Probably the neighbors had the same on their side. I could hear every itch and scratch, let alone loud talking from the other side. Very noisy hotel. Not enough soap. Sometimes they just don't replace the tiny hotel soap. Poor internet connection. It just stops working for like 12 hours or longer. Speed is sluggish. The only acceptable things about this hotel are: location - quite close to the Copacabana and some shops are nearby, receptionists are friendly and kind, cheap price!

I checked out and left my bag in the lobby. They gave me a ticket with a code and put the other ticket with the same code in my bag for identification. When I was about to leave I asked for my bag and a taxi, so the concierge told me to wait in the taxi and they would put my bag in the trunk. For my surprise, when I got to the airport the bag that I saw was not mine. At this point, I was freaking out because all of my personal stuff, my clothes and my documents were inside my suitcase - including my visa forms that can’t be replaced and are needed for me to go back to the US for my Masters that starts in 2 weeks. So I had to go back to the hotel, worried if they had gave my suitcase to someone else. When I got there the owner of the bag that was with me was also looking for her’s - in another words, it would have been a mess if I hadn’t gone back. Also I asked to change My blanked because apparently it was not clean - looked like some liquid dropped - and they never came to change it. Staff friendly though.

Dear Marina, We are sincerely sorry for the inconvenient situation at your check-out! The reception manager already took all the providences so that this kind of problem will never repeat itself. In addition, the bellboy has been advised to pay more attention with the luggage in the future. Furthermore, we ask you to get in contact with us and send us a list of the costs created by the inconvenience, so that Hotel Bandeirantes can compensate. We know that just a financial compensation is small if compared to the stress that was your situation, but we hope we can make it up even though. Sincere apologies, The Hotel Bandeirantes Management

Service = meh.
When we got to the hotel, the room wasn’t even in their system and o even paid for the hotel room in full online. My family and I were asked to come back in about two hours to set up a room for us. I paid for their parking service and when we got back, they said there was no more parking space left after I paid for a spot. We told them to figure it out and handed the keys of the car to them because we paid for the service/parking spot.

Location is the only highlight
Desperately needs a renovation. Although the room has a fair size, the bed is terrible! The bathroom seems to be delicate as the flush doesn't seems to work well. The shower is the good part of you enjoy a water massage along the shower. The hotel itself is laid back with only one elevator working making you wait quite a bit for your turn. So don't call uber from you bedroom, wait till you are at the lounge. The good part was definitely the friendly and easy to approach staff and the breakfast. Summing-up it's a 90th's hotel in Copacabana.

room with bugs!
My room had bedbugs in the mattress. I notified the staff immediately about this horrible experience. The very first night that I arrived, the hotel had to send me to another hotel in their network because they could not accommodate my request for a 'quiet room'. The other issue was that CNN was not working in the hotel until I complained about it and then four days later a repair was made to the broadcast. Originally the station had no sound and only a picture.

Pool on the roof clean, but small. The building next door is under major renovation/building site. Most mornings I was woken by a hammer drill despite being on the 11th floor. That said the rooms aren't double glazed which was a surprise and the traffic builds up from about 0630 and can be easily heard on the 11 th floor. Finally the air on isn't very effective, certainly in my room. Tried to get a late check out by just 1-2 hours leaving them plenty of time to get the rooms ready for the afternoon check in, but was declined. That seemed to be policy. That said the staff were very helpful and most spoke some English. Breakfast was better than I expected, but there is limited room and between 0900-1000 becomes very busy and hard to get a table. All in all my friend and I had a good stay, having separate ensuite double rooms. Not sure it was worth £50 a night tho!

Great value, but is in the middle of a facelift.
We had a good stay in Rio. The staff was very courteous and helpful. Great morning breakfast, good location about 3 blocks off the beach, easy walk to the metro and 2 main bus lines. Some good restaurants, juice bars, and others nearby. Our room was clean, but a little beat up. AC didn't work super well, the pool and sauna were undergoing repairs and weren't usable. Toilet seat was partly broken as well. Comfy bed, good shower and well stocked snack bar (complete with male and female condoms, just in case).

The building next door is being renovated. So lots of drilling and noise from very early in the morning (6/7am)... this was the only down side and can't be helped, there is lots of construction happening in Brazil for the Olympics. The hotel is very comfortable and the staff are amazing. Great level of English and extremely polite.

Great Hotel
We stayed at the hotel for the world cup and it's a really nice hotel, the bus station is just two blocks away if you're a tourist and want to go and visit places. The room was always cleaned and the breakfast was always really good. The only thing that could be changed is the amount of time they take to check guest in and out, most of the staff was always really nice but there was a man at the front rest that was always on the middle computer on the morning shift that was not as nice as the other two girls.

Good hotel for the price.
The hotel is about 4 blocks away from the beach and it is very secure. The staff at the hotel are helpful and they speak various languages, so it was always easy to communicate with them about tours, different beaches, and even how to get to the maracana (we were there for the world cup). You can also see a view of Christ the Redeemer from the pool at the top of the hotel; however, I did not use the pool or the two treadmills they have up there, so I can't comment on those specifically. Rua Barrata Ribbero is a very popular street, so there were always plenty of people on the street and the hotel is close to many different stores and restaurants so it's location is ideal for a non-expensive hotel within 10 mins of the beach. Also, the breakfast buffet at the rest

Good location, but hotel comes up wanting
The pros: The hotel location is great - it is only 3 blocks from Copacabana beach. Many good restaurants and shops are close by and the neighborhood seems very safe. Also, the hotel staff were quite cheerful and helpful. Several of them spoke excellent English. The cons: Major construction work is going on in the building attached to the hotel. Construction is very loud and starts early - about 7 am. The rooms are pretty basic and maid service is just OK. Wifi is not good. Pool is more like an oversized Jacuzzi but was unheated.

This hotel staff are great, very helpful especially Garcia. The rooms are clean and basic but if you turn up expecting a south american hotel you will love it. If you are expecting a 5 star luxury hotel this is not for you. Good location and lots of local bars near by 2 streets from the beach.

Hopeless service
We arrived before noon and were told our rooms weren't ready yet, so we paid and left our luggage in the locker room. When we got back in the evening the hotel had forgotten all about us and had to scramble to find some beds. I got a windowless closet on the first floor. There was not even a door lock. I chose to stay in my colleague's double room instead and was initially promised that I wouldn't have to pay for the other room. Then the hotel manager on duty changed her mind and wouldn't refund me. We had a major row in the reception. Eventually the guy in the reception the next morning gave me my money back, but it was all in all no pleasant experience.

Overall a good experience
The hotel was nice, but you have to know what to expect. From my experience, hotels in Brazil and Europe can often be older facilities than what we have in the US. This doesn't make it a bad place, though, just know what to expect. Yes, the rooms are very basic and older, but the hotel is affordable and the staff are friendly. Overall, I think it was a good experience for the price I paid. One recommendation though is to see the city on your own and not use one of their offered packages. The city is very easy to navigate by taxi, metro, and bus; and you will save a ton of money by doing it on your own if you have the time!

We ha booked 4 night and only stay less then 8 hours. Rooms were outdated felt like we were in a scary movie. Bathroom had no Celling so we can here the people next door and upstairs while they were doing their business and blowing their nose and you can imagine the rest. The view was to a building across the street. It was only 2 blocks from the beach. But to walk that at night was pretty scary. The roof was the only nice thing in this hotel and the service was okay. They had to switch our room because the a/c was not working. If i had to stay. I think i would have sleep near the pool for the remaining 3 days.

The hotel is in a good location, only three blocks from Copacabana beach shore, so it is easily in walking distance (less than 5 minutes). There are restaurants, convenient stores, and bars in walking distance. The rooms are a bit small and we recently stayed in late September 2013 and there was construction nearby that was very loud and unpleasant. Construction was from 10am to 4pm. However, for the money and price, it is fair and worth it. Rooms at my time were going between $180-220 a night depending on weekdays vs weekends. The Breakfast buffet was delicious and included in the price. You will need to pay for internet which is around $15 Brazilian Dollars a day. If your under a budget, this is a nice hotel to book.

Could do a lot better
The best thing about the hotel was the location being less than 10 mins from Copacabana beach and the view from the roof top with a distant view of Christ the Redeemer. The staff on reception were at best uninterested with customer service, happily ignored you if you were there asking for anything. The rooms were dated and shabby looking, but clean. Air conditioning unit sounded like a jet engine at take off whilst it was switched on. Shower was pretty much a fire sprinkler in the ceiling....not the most effective at washing sand off from the beach! Wifi you had to pay for and it was pitiful signal strength. Poor end to a great holiday. Glad we were only there for 2 nights

Very nice Hotel
I really liked the hotel. It was really good for the price. It's not far from the beach, the super market, bus station and restaurants. The staff was very nice to us, especially Mr. Garner in the Reception who was a great help since we got to the Hotel, he helped me and my wife in different things through out the whole trip. I likled George as well. I felt like everyone was nice trying to help even some of them didn't speak english. One thing I loved was the breakfast, nice and fresh, I miss their bread and the little croissante. They cleaned our room when we wanted to. The view from the roof by pool is amazing, seeing Corcovado on top of the mountain. I would go back since my visa is for 10 years. I just want everybody to know that before they book a trip to Brazil. "AMERICANS NEED A VISA TO TRAVEL TO BRAZIL". I found out about it just one week before going there, me and my wife had to pay $700 to get it.
