Clean room even though it was small, newly renovated bathroom, nice towels and bedding, comfortable beds. Old historical hotel with character though seating could be more comfy
Friendly bar staff
Bonus having free parking at the property

Room was clean staff we’re really friendly and happy to help , there was parking available the hotel was right in the centre of Richmond so lots of shops restaurants and pubs on the door step , the food was lovely and we had no issues at all with our stay and would return
Very hospitable staff, food and beer were excellent. Excellent location. Parking was a bit tight, and a bit tortuous to the rooms, but overall it was pretty much as expected, and an enjoyable stay.
Excellent central location in Richmond. Good price for a two room suite (one room with double bed, another with two singles) and also the fact that breakfast was included in the price.
A great last minute overnight trip here. The room was lovely, quaint and cosy. We ate dinner in the pub and cannot fault the food. I had lasagne and my husband had gammon. Breakfast was great. Cereal, toast, juice and hot drinks available to help yourself to and then order hot food. I had eggs bennedict and my husband had a full English. Great value for money and would definitely recommend!
The Black Lion is well positioned, Food Good, Beers a good choice, Breakfast Good.
Room a bit dated but acceptable for a night or two.

This is a wonderful traditional inn located within a nice, quiet, walkable village. Wi-Fi and cable television are unreliable, but that's what you get when you are out in the countryside. The dinner we had, along with the breakfast, was wonderful, and we loved taking a stroll near the river and the waterfalls.
The staff was lovely but the room was dirty and dusty the window didn't close. We booked in for evening meal and the service was unbelievable slow most of evening spent waiting for our meal
Nice town for a stop on the coast to coast trail. It's too bad we didn't take a full rest day here as it's the biggest town on the trail. Accommodations were wonderful and staff was welcoming as we were dripping wet on arrival. Also the 2 twin beds were glorious and probably new (most are springs poking your body at the different stops). The breakfast avocado/eggs were delicious! The room was very cozy. Highly recommend
Our room was on top floor, it was really big! All 3 beds were very comfy, we slept like in the clouds. The room had plenty of tea/ coffee/ biscuits etc. The bathroom was large too. The building had things like chipped paint and dust in staircase etc, but building is a few hundred years old, so some things are hard to modernise. But we had a lovely stay. It was fun flicking through old books in our room. All staff were great. The evening sharing platter in pub downstairs was delicious, as well as breakfast in a lovely Parrot room. Thank you so much!

Clean room, courteous staff, good pillows and a comfy bed.
Easy check in lovely freshly renovated rooms beds are comfy and the pillows were lovely good shower pressure and nice toiletries.
Food was good too and the landlord ale was spot on I stayed 1 night and rebooked for a night on the way back home perfect for single travelers or couples
What a great place this is, full of character warm and friendly atmosphere and the staff were great. It was always busy with people eating and the food we had on both evening's was very good and the waiting staff excellent, we had breakfast both morning's which again was very good the only down side was there was no fresh fruit available in the breakfast room ( we didn't inquire if this was an option though ) the pub is ideally located for everything and there is parking available but on a first come first served basis although there is plenty of parking elsewhere. All in all we had a great stay and will be back next time we visit Richmond, we would definitely recommend the black lion as a great place to stay for sure.
Everything was fantastic and the food was lovely. Only thing id criticise would be no mirrors in our room. I really struggled when trying to dry and straighten my hair. Had to use the bathroom mirror, luckily the tv plug sockets were outside the bathroom door.
