If you have any sense of fun, or have children, you NEED to stay here in a "cabin" at least once. If for some reason you do not, you NEED to eat at their restaurant at least once, even if you are staying in Reykjavík, take the bus here and eat. Their rooms have very little spare space, almost no furniture, and you are living out of your luggage, but the Viking theme is over the top, from almost everything being carved and decorated, to the uniforms worn by the staff, who are very nice and helpful. The restaurant is a miniature Viking museum complete with Viking skalds and warriors, and while pricey even by Icelandic standards, served up some of the best food we had in Iceland. It is a two minute walk to a major public bus terminal, and all the major tour companies and services will pick you up and drop you off at the hotel. It is less than a 15 minute bus ride to the capital. Dining and shopping nearby are easily walk-able.
