i bought a non refundable date for the hotel for two rooms. due to the volcano we rescheduled our trip with ease except for the hotel which would not honor a date change even or a credit far in advance before the trip almost two weeks ago. fully plan on getting back to iceland to do the trip but never with this hotel chain. its disgraceful that they wouldnt honor a date change due to a natural disaster

Dear Scott , Thank you for leaving feedback even though you did not stay with us. Iceland is a volcanic island- this same area has seen few volcanic eruptions in the last years, not one of which affected flights or travel in any way. Current eruption have not affected flights or the travel from the international airport to other parts of the country. Reykjavík is not considered to be in a danger zone. This is a localized eruption and Iceland is highly prepared for volcanic events.Your reservation was made on non refundable rates. Terms and conditions of these reservations are such that no refunds or credits are available in the event of a cancellation. As an exception we did modify reservation dates , however few weeks later we received cancellation and refund request again. Refunds are not allowed on these bookings so we suggested to provide all documents required should you wished to seek reimbursement through your travel insurance provider. No further communication was received from you or your travel agent.Thank you again for your feedback and hopefully we will get the chance to welcome you one day and provide a great service and experience.Best Regard, GitaAssistant Hotel Manager

The hotel is in such a great location with easy access to everything. The restaurant was excellent and also right across the road is a food hall with lots of different restaurants to choose from. We did breakfast included which was delicious daily and an easy way to start our busy days. Highly recommend

Great location, can walk everywhere in the city from hotel. Rooms are a good size and I like the fact that you pick what days you want housekeeping so it’s convenient. The only thing I would suggest changing is that the main entrance doors get locked at midnight so you have to knock and wait for reception to come and open it. It would be better if you could get in via a PIN code or key card swipe. Otherwise great hotel

Not all front desk was not too friendly overall but it could be a cultural difference. The location was excellent. The room was so tiny, not sure how people with 2 suitcases can comfortably fit in here. We luckily only stayed there for one night. The bathroom was outstanding! Excellent lighting and the water pressure in the rain shower and the products were the top notch.

The hotel is in a great location for exploring Reykavik! While out of the hotel's control, you could hear the band next door which disrupted one's sleep.

Great location! The staff at the front desk are not great. We arrived after a long trip, checked in and went to our room and there was no power. We went back down and the woman told us we had to put our key card in a slot in the room to get power- she said that’s how Europe is.. I live in US, have EU citizenship and found this rude. I told her that she should have let us know… she didn’t apologize. I was never given info on laundry until I called and asked. When is asked prices, they had no idea, called me later with price by item. Also, on the weekends the bar next door is so loud that we were on the top floor but it sounded like the dj was in our room until 5am. You have access to the spa at their sister hotel borg next door, which is lovely. We were not given a key or told services. Luckily I had booked prior to coming and the staff at hotel borg were much more helpful. The masseuse there was AMAZING- highly recommend. I would suggest staying at hotel borg, better vibe and nicer staff. Anytime we asked for a taxi or anything at Apotek they seemed annoyed and had no knowledge. The hotel was clean enough, restaurant morning buffet was super expensive and literally start closing and pulling food in right at 10 when they close. Even if you just sat down and 9:45, and no almond milk my whole week there. I had to buy it at the store literally feet away in a convenient store. Disappointing experience overall but we still loved Reykjavík. Thank you Marron for booking our massages!

Our experience was good. Only stayed 1 night plus early check in. Older facility thought well maintained and quite clean. Staff was helpful and friendly. Bed was very comfortable, and location is close to shops and restaurants.

Very nice hotel. Beautiful bathroom. The staff were friendly, accommodating and efficient. The bars outside near the hotel were loud and kept us up for a while. The breakfast or brunch buffet was a little pricey for what we got. Overall, we very pleased with our short stay.

The location is close to all sorts of amenities as well as access to tour options. I particularly like the dining room of Apotek Hotel, and I found the 7-course tasting menu an exceptional value. The hotel was clean and quiet, most suitable for relaxing.

Only con is the description of parking. There is metered street parking (you can use an app for it but it’s limited) and private parking garages in the downtown area but the hotel does not have its own parking. Other hotels don’t advertise the street parking at all so it’s a little confusing but we did not have any issues finding street parking which was around 25-30$ a day depending on which app you use. My husband and I visited Reykjavik in off season though. The garages are a bit more expensive from what the hotel told us. That being said the rooms are large, comfortable and clean. The restaurant on site is delicious and has amazing cocktails. It’s also super conveniently located to many other places to eat, drink and activities. It’s was a great stay and I would highly recommend it

Great location, simple clean rooms, it’s a good stay and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Iceland. I will say that the biggest flaw that both the hotel and restaurant face is that it’s very dated. The furniture is old and dingy, the bedroom is simple and dated. It seems like at its prime it was impressive and now it’s just dusty and can use a new coat of paint and refurbishment.

It has always been a dream to stay at the Apotek hotel and when we finally had the chance to stay here, they did not disappoint! The room was very clean, very luxurious, including ammenities like shower caps, qtips and makeup remover. The staff were very friendly and helpful with our questions about parking and other things about Reykjavik. We used the spa at Hotel Borg, which was also amazing - got facials and that was a cherry on top of our long, busy day in Rekjavik. Will definitely stay here again when we return to Iceland!

Amazing location but the furnishings are worn and dated. Amazing shower. Loud due to location next to bars on the weekend. Street parking only. No valet or help with parking. Comfortable beds.

Convenient, as it is right in the city centre. Beautiful interior, and well maintained. Be aware there is no onsite parking. Street parking can prove quite difficult.

Great service and rooms!
Great hotel in a great area! We bopped around bars in the evening and was just a quick walk across the way to our hotel. We did leave the windows open at night and it was noisy until 6AM but we don't mind noise so it was fine. With the windows closed, it wasn't loud at all. There isn't a lobby really, but we didn't need one! They let us check in early which was lucky since our flight landed at 6AM. Overall a great experience and a cute city!

Thought it was unfair to charge $50 for early access to the room, i.e. before 3o’clock. No bellman service to assist with luggage.

Dear Millard, Thank you for the kind review of your stay with us. Official check in is at 15:00 and that's when access to the room is guaranteed. If the room is ready before this time we do offer option to check in early for 50 Euro fee. Guest also can just wait until official check in time and we can store luggage until then. We do not have bellman service , however our reception team is available to assist if requested. Hotel was centrally located and easy to walk around the downtown area. Room was extremely comfortable and clean. Front desk staff were extremely helpful

Nice Hotel, great location.
Nice hotel, great downtown location (only downside would be our room overlooked a lovely park that is lined with restaurants and bars so late at night with our windows open we could hear how much fun everyone was having - we closed the windows :)), lovely and friendly staff. We paid for the breakfast, it also was quite nice with a good variety of selections.
