DAY 1 - Suggested itinerary – Orientation and settling in

Arrive in Red Feather Lakes in the afternoon and check into The Cabin in the Woods at 4:00 P.M. After unpacking, explore the property’s forest, gentle rock formations and mountain views. Prepare your dinner with a complete kitchen and grill or dine out at one of the Red Feather Lakes restaurants. Relax in the evenings with the many games provided and star gazing. Satellite television and internet are provided.

    DAY 2 - Suggested itinerary – Activities

    - Wildlife, Fishing and Picnic Time
Nearby lakes for fishing, bird and wildlife watching and shoreline exploring. Dowdy Lake is one of the most accessible, family-friendly lakes in the area. The trail around the lake is a good choice - scenic and manageable for kids. Bring a picnic lunch, folding chairs (from the cabin) and protective clothing in case the weather changes. West Lake, Parvin Lake and Bellaire Lake are also excellent choices. A Colorado state fishing license is required for adults; three-day licenses are available. Crystal Lakes fishing is available on a daily fee (please advise).

    - Horseback Riding
Consider a horseback trail ride with Beaver Meadows Stables or Sundance Trail for a memorable western-style adventure.

    - Scenic Drive
Historically, Deadman Road connects closely with the Deadman Lookout area in the Roosevelt National Forest, a region long used for both recreation and forest management. The road provided early access for logging and fire monitoring efforts tied to the Deadman Lookout Tower, a historic fire-spotting station near the summit. Today, the road is primarily enjoyed by outdoor enthusiasts, but it still carries the legacy of its utilitarian beginnings, blending mountain history with the recreational opportunities of the modern day.

    - Drala Mountain Center and Easy Exploring
Enjoy a peaceful outing to Drala Mountain Center. The grounds are a nice place for a gentle walk, and the large Great Stupa is an interesting stop. You can pair this stop with a scenic drive and a picnic lunch.

    DAY 3 - Suggested itinerary – Activities

    - Golf
Red Feather Lakes features an 18-hole first-class golf course nestled at 8,300 ft in Colorado's pristine landscape. The course spans 6,500 yards with closer in tees available for all skill sets. The mountain driving range and practice green warms you up for the golf adventure. Drive your cart weaving through these mountain holes with perfect fairways, undulating greens, lakes, and sand across holes like “Moose Crossing” and “Sleeping Elephants” to enjoy challenge your skills. Non-members can book afternoon tee times up to 10 days in advance and must prepay at the time of booking.
    - ATV, Kayak & Paddleboard Rentals
You can rent ATVs for the Red Feather Lakes trail systems. The area features over 100 miles of designated OHV trails in the Roosevelt National Forest. Single/double kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddleboards are also available for rent in Red Feather Lakes.
Winter Snow Tubing and Ice Skating
During the winter months you can get a half day or full day lift pass. Tubing runs go from easy to challenging. Ice skates are also available to rent for the frozen ponds.
