I took the express line to Makkasan and wanted to catch a cab to the hotel but very few cabs go into the terminal. Also for some reason, the ones that did arrive didn't want to go to the hotel. It was ~4:30 pm so I couldn't understand why. Gave up after waiting 30 mins. Luckily, Makkasan is connected to Phetchaburi MRT station so took the MRT, one stop to Phra Ram 9 MRT then ~5 mins walk to hotel.
Staff were friendly, room was quite large, simple but clean. The mattress is a little on the stiff side so fair warning for those who don't like that. 1000 THB room deposit is required. I requested a late checkout and it cost an additional 500 THB, if anyone is interested. Had an oil massage (600 THB) from the place inside the hotel and it was decent. The hotel is located on a side street surrounded by houses, it's quite quiet but felt safe walking outside late at night. A few food stalls, some street food carts, 7-11 and a Pizza Hut nearby. Next to Fortune Town Mall (Tesco Lotus supermarket) and Central Rama IX so very convenient to shop and eat.
FYI, as most cabbies weren't familiar with the location of the hotel, I would suggest getting dropped off at the Grand Mercure, which is very close by and on the main road. Also most don't read or speak very good English so have the address and name in Thai handy. That saved me a lot of grief. In all, I would definitely go back as this hotel met my expectations.
The location of this hotel is perfect, a 2 minute walk from central plaza/the underground train (which connects to the over head train and together can reach most of the city at a fast speed) or take the free hotel tuk tuk, although it only leaves every 15 minutes. The breakfast, along with all their food was delicious. The gym was lacking but probably more sufficient for the average goer. Laundry was a bit expensive but there are cheap, pay machines everywhere.
The hotel itself was amazing for the price. The pics show what the rooms look like so no need for a depiction. Staff are extremely helpful and very nice, helping us with all our needs and even organising the tuk tuk to go out of its way to take us to our destination! Very pleased.
Ps: We couldn't find a taxi or a tuk tuk driver who know the hotel by name, so just say central plaza and fortune tower and they'll drop you off close by.
The hotel was originally a 3-star hotel but has since been upgraded to 5-star with fresh renovations and a new annex building that caters to a niche group of motel lovers. The room is spacious and staff are courteous and helpful. I lost my Thai ATM card at the airport only to find out after I had checked into the hotel. The receptionist was kind enough to assist me with notifying the bank to cancel the ATM card with the telephone at the reception counter as it would have cost a bomb on my prepaid SIM card to navigate around the automated telephone answering machine of the bank.
The hotel is not centrally located as it's neither near the BTS or MRT. Many Chinese tourists arriving in loads of buses in the evening struggled for a meaningful shopping experience in the neighbourhood except for a small 7 Eleven store located opposite the hotel.

Great place to stay, not far from MRT and great little shops and markets within walking distance. Loved that we were a little way out of the city so we could enjoy the peace and quiet each night while sleeping.
This entertainment district on the MRT Metro Line caters to locals and offers everything from go-cart racing and ice skating to karaoke and Thai theater. The dance clubs on Royal City Avenue, a lively pedestrian street, are open an hour later than venues elsewhere in the city. Foreign guests can also visit the Thai Cultural Center for free exhibitions on Thai history and culture.
