Pleasant Stay
We had a pleasant stay at the Rivier. The reception staff were helpful and accommodating. We had a large terrace which was a bonus, although it did need some TLC. Good breakfast

September 2023 Our reservation was cancelled by hotel Riviera’s staff the day before we were going to check into the hotel. Their initial given reason was that it was a technical problem. We called them and they said it was because of a broken window. They booked us into another hotel without any consultation. When we arrived in Rapallo we went into the hotel they booked us into and they had no knowledge of reservations made by Hotel Riviera. It was very stressful especially finding hotel they booked us in was of a much lower quality without the location and sea view we had booked and confirmed with Hotel Riviera months prior. We went to Hotel Riviera and spoke with staff who informed us that we were canceled because they had overbooked our room and that the new guests were staying for the more expensive nights. This situation should never have come about if Hotel Riviera had honoured our confirmed booking. We wrote a complaint to Hotel Riviera and requested a response and to this date no response has been received. We hope that Expedia investigates this unethical practice. We would not recommend Hotel Riviera to anyone due to there being absolutely no guarantee they would honour any future reservations, confirmed or not.

Lovely European hotel right on the promenade and walkable to restaurants and shopping. The beach is right across the street. Rooms are spacious. Beds are a little hard but not bad. Enjoyed our stay.

Nice location, terrible customer service
This hotel is in a great part of the city, across from the beach and port. However, upon arrival, my friend and I were greeted by the rude receptionist, a brunette with glasses. I asked if we could check in early and she quickly said no. Then I asked if we could check our bags in at least and she just motioned her hand over to the side. Did not even get up and give us a number/tag. I had to do everything and hope it was right. Really terrible customer service. Otherwise, the room was ok. Beds were uncomfortable and we each only had a sheet to cover up with. It was nice to have an ocean view though. 4/10 for me.

Amazing! Must stay here! We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and have so many good things to say. The staff was so nice and helpful with directions/transportation, very clean, the included breakfast was great lots of options and it’s right on the waterfront so close to everything - 5 min walk to the train station or the boat transportation. 10/10

Great location
Location was perfect, walking distance to everything. The only thing I was not happy was when I first arrived. The room was warm and the batteries on the remote were burnt, like literally damaged burnt on the ends. I brought both issues to the woman at the front desk and all she can say is to ask the people tomorrow. She made no effort to help, I felt like I was a bother... basically she was rude! But the next day, another guy was at the front desk and he was great! He even asked if he could make dinner reservations for me. The lady that checked me out was also very friendly. The room was still warm, but thank goodness I was able to open the windows. It brought a nice cool breeze to the room.

It is very comfortable and few steps to public and private beach, very close to nice restaurants and shopping area also 30 meter to buy tickets to ride a boat 30 minutes trip to portofino.

The location of the hotel is excellent, on the front overlooking the Ligurian Sea. Central Rapallo isn’t large; restaurants, bars etc are all within easy walking distance. The train station is less than 10 minutes on foot. The main road along the sea front in Rapallo runs to the side of the hotel and although usually busy, the noise of the traffic is not intrusive. The staff at The Riviera are very friendly and helpful; nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was simple but adequate. The bedroom my wife and I had booked was comfortable but not plush; it didn’t encourage us to linger although it was ok for somewhere to put our heads down for the night. Whilst not the height of luxury, for the price The Riviera Hotel isn’t a bad place from which to explore the Ligurian Riviera.

Train trip to rapallo went smoothly and there are bus connections to Genova too. Hotel riveria situated on edge of lovely Promenade but away from traffic. Clean comfortable modern rooms. We had a walk in shower. Air con, sea view with tiny balcony, lift. Adequate breakfast. Found the hotel staff and owners very welcoming. Rapallo sea front suffered a lot of damage in a huge storm Oct 2018 and commune are working to repair it. You can't get a ferry from there but there are various buses and trains. We walked along coast road Santa Margherita Liguria and took ferry to Portofino. Lots of lovely villages to see. Rapallo has certain events planned for summer. Lots of little shops, bars, and restaurants. Eating and drinking can be expensive if you dont look around Have already recommended hotel riveria in Rapallo to all my friends

perfect location location location
I was really happy and thrilled of the location of the hotel. Ocean front property, located in a nice shopping area and banks are really close. The train station is only a 10 min walk away and many restaurants seriously within a few mins from the hotel. The hotel is dated, but clean and well kept. My only issue was the first day of arrival when i inquired about the bathtub I requested when i upgraded to the ocean front/view room. When I arrived, I was told my room did not have a tub and I was a little, okay a lot put out. I asked for another room and the reception clerk told me there were no other rooms with a tub. I asked him the hotel has only one bathtub and I was told yes. Okay... I went to the room and decided to change hotels, but then the reception called and said they have another room with a tub. I did not hesitate to move my belongings to the new room. The rooms were nice and spacious with a fabulous view of the Med Sea. After that encounter with the accommodations of the bathtub, the service was excellent. It is family owned and they do put great effort and pride in maintaining their hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. I do not hesitate to recommend this location and hotel. We were able to travel to Genoa, Turin, Cirque Terra, Portofino, Santa Margarita from Rapallo. The restaurant attached to the hotel is a superb. Highly recommend eating there.

Old European Charm with plenty of comfort
This is an old European style hotel, complete with the half pound brass key fob. Our room had 2 rooms which was great for having luggage open and making all the mess away from the bedroom. Also had sea view and a huge terrace with furniture. There are plenty of restaurants in the town of Rapallo, and Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino are a 5 minute train ride away for a further choice of bars and restaurants.

Great hotel right on the esplanade
Really enjoyed our 6 night stay here. Location is perfect, close to the beach, ferries, buses and train station. The service was fantastic and they even ungraded our room at no extra charge.

Bad hotel experience in Rapallo.
Disappointing. Ordinary breakfast. Old weak air conditioning and minibar - it was hotter in the room than outside - very uncomfortable. When we came back late one afternoon, the room hadstill not been cleaned - when we complained they offered us a tea and coffee while we waited in the foyer. When we checked out , we were shocked to find that they charged us for them. Very poor. Definitely NOT recommended.

Location is excellent, however rooms are old with a lit of mosquitos l, i was bitten every part of my body and don’t know if it was from the mattress. We ended up cheking out 2 days earlier, and had to pay full price. The breakfast is also less than average.

Lovely hotel in a lovely spot, great for exploring. We stayed here for a trip to Portofino, you can get the foot passenger ferry to Portofino just a very short stroll away, but Rapallo is also very nice and worth a look around. We had an updated room with a sea view which was exceptional! I would recommend this hotel!

Claudio and his staff are very helpful and responsive. We loved the room because it was specious with historical touch, nicely furnished with all needed for travelers including cloths hangers. The bathroom appliances are all new and super convenient. I've being traveling in Europe for many years and I've stayed in many hotels including Rapallo, though this one blow my mind how beautiful and nice everything and everyone was.

Great location and staff. Great restaurants around, and reasonably priced. Room was out dated, but we had a great view from our balcony. King bed is really 2 twin mattresses together. Hard to sleep in the middle. Can't beat the location for the price. Across the street from the water, and downtown right outside the door. Portofino was a beautiful 20 minute drive.

La bella vita.
We have stayed here often and it is a fine, family owned hotel. There is no art in the rooms, nor tissues, but otherwise great, and very good value, with a superb location. Good breakfasts.

Rappalo is really beautiful, with Portofino so close by its very easy to catch a boat ferry and be in Portofino in half an hour.
