"We stayed in a superior deluxe room with the most beautiful balcony, sea, sunset view. The room itself was fab, only shame was having a fully functional kitchen but no kettle or way of making a hot drink. Maria and crew on reception including Bella the dog were exceptional. The breakfast room gave conference room vibes but you could take your tray out onto the terrace across the road which was much nicer."
"The apartment had all you need and was spotless. It is perfectly positioned with an ample terrace with a sea view to watch the wonderful sunsets. It is 100 yards from a lovely beach with beach bar. Christos the host was always on site and available to sort any issues and to give advice on restaurants, places to visit etc.. The apartment is also close to ancient historical sites. We had a great stay there."
"A high quality design hotel set in beautifully landscaped grounds by the beach. The hotel facilities are excellent. Nice restaurants, fantastic pools, lounging areas and spa.
We loved our well-appointed room with comfortable beds and good showers and standalone bath. The views over the terrace and straight onto the beach were outstanding. The room was spacious, luxurious, and had a wow factor.
We stayed in the Agora beachfront rooms which are next to a recently built, low-rise, classy waterside centre with shops/restaurants/cinema and small chapel. The Agora seems to be located between the W and neighbouring Mandarin Oriental Hotel.
Our room was lovely and quiet and just a 5 min walk to the main W reception. The Agora facilities were right outside but there was no noise (golf buggies available to get around the resort too) and the beach was on the opposite side of the rooms.
The W spa and outdoor pools are fantastic. Wonderful, welcoming staff who really made an effort.
You can walk along the beach to nearby Gialova which is a small town with an elegant, lowkey vibe and some excellent beachfront restaurants.
It was our second stay here and we had a wonderful time. The free onsite parking is certainly worth it to explore the region.
Thank you for an excellent stay."
"I spent nearly 40 years writing about travel, so I know a thing or two about hotels. Filanthi is a special place in every way. Yes, the sea is right outside and there’s a great restaurant below, but it’s far more than that. This building has been in the same family for many generations (see story in photo) and is now run by a young woman named Eugenia, who has done a flawless job of preserving the charm of her great-grandfather’s home while blending it with artistic, modern touches, for example, the way the beautiful bathroom tiles conjure hillsides of olive, citrus, and sage.
She has also introduced comfort elements not typical of Greek hotels. The bed was exceptionally comfortable—nothing like the traditional board-like fare—and the shower was the best I experienced in four weeks of traveling through the Peloponnese. Every detail is unique and thoughtfully chosen; she should be proud of the years of work that went into creating such a space.
There was a complimentary bottle of local wine in the room that I didn’t try, and though I never ordered one, my sea-view double came with a balcony cat who was charming and excellent company. My only suggestion: I hope she soon drops “The Project” from the name. In my experience, the hotel is already complete—elegant, well-finished, and deeply memorable."
