Our top choices for Progreso romantic hotels

1. Hotel Scappata

Boulevard Turístico Malecón

"This hotel is a confusion of amenities. While it’s across from a nice beach, the restaurant food is good and comes with a meal discount, free parking, a large screen TV, some of the room features are lacking. The coffee maker didn’t work; housekeeping always forgot to replace all the towels; there is a slight sewer smell from the shower; and you can only get one room key. Functional but lacking."

Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Merida La Isla by IHG

The hotel itself was great and all staff were welcoming and lovely. My room was pristine and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The food was perfect (I LOVED the burger and chips), but the buffet breakfast probably wouldn’t be good for picky European eaters (I’m sure one morning I had what looked to be mincemeat??)- whilst the buffet breakfast food may have been different to what I’m used to, it was still very very nice. My only downside to this hotel is the location- there is a big shopping...

The Diplomat Boutique Hotel

Mérida Centro

10/10 Excellent

We drove here in a hire car, using a satnav. I was a little concerned we had taken a wrong turn as the neighbourhood looks a little run down. However, we found the hotel, parked up and were greeted by Neil who led us into an oasis of calm and luxury. This tiny little boutique hotel only has 4 suites so book early to avoid disappointment; you won't regret it. It really is gorgeous, impeccably designed and furnished, and supremely comfortable. Sara and Neil went out of their way to make us feel...

Antelar Casa Destino

What a beautiful hotel. This was my first ever hotel in Mexico and it is amazing. The reception staff are really helpful eg they brought my breakfast around to the seating area outside my suite next to the pool so that I could sit and enjoy the view while taking my time to get through it. The free breakfast was some fruit and a slice of bread with jam and butter, and little pot of granola and yoghurt. However, with my Expedia booking I got a free a la carte breakfast and chose a sandwich with...

Mansión Merida Hotel Boutique - Restaurant

Mérida Centro

10/10 Excellent

Over the last 40 years my wife and I have stayed in many hotels around the world. It would not be overstating it to say that our stay at the Mansion Merida Boutique Hotel was among the best we have stayed in. We were met on arrival by the owner, Raoul, who told us that the property, laid out around two courtyards, one containing a most welcome pool, used to be his grandfathers house. The rooms and the service were exceptional. A visit to Merida would not be complete without a night or two here.

Ben
